It's a shame the formatting on this one made it a tad odd to read, it's a really nice look at a different perspective on the whole "infection turning people into dangerous creatures" thing.
The unlikely alliance being a touch on the abstract side was a fun , different take on the challenge, too!
Could do without the all bold body text, but a pretty good tale with a twist on getting infected as a form of salvation from suffering. That's a cool take.
Thank you, I hadn't realized I had copied my text wrong until I saw everyone else's submissions, I'll remember it for next time!
I don't really see how this fits the theme. I guess you could say that the uprising slaves are an unlikely alliance, but that doesn't feel developed enough for me to give this very high marks on adherence to theme.
I'm also not really sure how this fits into OPR's universe. I assume (both from the title and the technology level) that this is supposed to be a Grimdark Future entry, but I don't recognize any of the factions in the story.
Thanks for submitting.
My interpretation is that the slaves were infected with some "Infected Colonies" sort of mutation virus, and that this virus is the unlikely ally which would be a fun way to play with the theme.
Yes I wanted to go with the Infected colonies but didn't want to be too overt with it, I guess I went a bit too subtle and could have included more of their big monster units. Thank you for the feedback, I will remember it for next time!
