Description
Based on the theme and image inspiration, I imagined a game in which the player would be roaming a dark forest in a medieval-like sci-fi/fantasy setting with remnants of magic and technology. There is only one track, so I tried to encapsulate several concepts like the feeling of mystery and darkness, but also determination and wonder, while having an ambient feel that would go well with exploratory, open-world gameplay. I used electronic synths, but I wanted to keep the track from sounding too "futuristic," since the universe I envisioned exists in a strange timeline with an eclectic mix of anachronistic elements.

LMMS, Audacity

Thanks for listening!
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
The theme of "runaway" conjures a feeling of an outsider or someone who has escaped some circumstance and is now adapting to a new life, exploring the fringes of society and beyond. The picture theme was also a big influence on the storyline, as it shows a quiet scene in a sunlit clearing surrounded by shadowy forest, which I think has a lot of possibilities for a game scenario. I tried to convey all of this musically through a foreboding tone mixed with wonder and guarded optimism. Also, I think the story would unfold by slowly learning about the background and motivations of the "runaway" character, as well as the world itself. So this part of the soundtrack is meant to give a sense of discovering the unknown.

Cool, dark vibes here, and love the synth choices. LMMS sounds are really nostalgic to me.
Thank you so much! Heh, yeah, it seems like a lot of people got their start with LMMS. It's great software!
I liked the sound that was similar to the sound of the whale in the back. You made a very soft music, it was very gripping. Good work...
Interesting, I hadn't noticed the similarity to whale sounds, before, but I can hear it now! Thanks for the kind words!
Nice use of those creepy-mysterious synth sounds, and that high pitched not-quite-melody in the background. Reminds me of voices in your head driving you insane. Neat atmosphere throughout!
Ooh, hopefully they're the voices in your head that drive you insane in a good way… right? Right!? -- Haha, anyway, thank you for taking the time to listen and comment!
To me the "forest" part was missing, I imagined something more like someone exploring an abandoned city of a really advanced society that for various reasons collapsed, but don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the eerie vibes and sense of "exploring the unknown" you tried to convey, good job!
This is totally fair criticism! I'm glad the eerie/exploration feeling came through, but I can definitely see how you got more of a "post-apocalyptic future" vibe than "forest." I'm already thinking of ways I could try to get that across. Thank you for your feedback, this helps a lot!
Cool synth sounds. You have a cool concept for the game and made good music for it. Good job^^
Thank you so much, I'm glad you connected with the concept!
Really cool ambience here, and the eerie distorted vocals add to it immensely
Thank you, it's interesting to see what resonated with listeners like you!
Pretty interesting and unique vibe there, sounds well I like the quality but in terms of composition after 1 min of listening, its pretty much the same, even the second part you added a little bit of rythme but it is still the same, I would've like something a bit different moving towards something unexpected. You nailed the correlation to the story you imagined though.
This is great feedback, and I totally agree with what you're saying about bringing some new elements into the second half. Thank you!
Dig the synth work in the opening. There's some really cool ambiences there. Also like the creepy vocal-like sound that signifies the end of the first section. It's definitely got a mysterious dark vibe to it.
Thank you for your detailed review!
