Description
This is scored for a small two piece orchestra with additional guest instruments on each track.
Made with musescore 4, not produced but mixed and "tweaked" to get a (hopefully) convincing orchestral sound.
Track 1 - Main Menu (looping)
Plays in the main menu and tries to set an adventurous and mysterious tone while exposing the main theme. Could be re-arranged for some in-game scenes too.
Track 2 - Midnight waves (looping)
You navigate your ship in a calm sea, guided by the stars.
Track 3 - Underwater world (looping)
You dive and explore an underwater ruin.
Track 4 - Some wishes can't come true (one-shot)
A cinematic one-shot scene (maybe an ending). You experience some kind of loss, and you scream in frustration at the shooting stars, knowing your wish to gain back what was lost will never come true. In the end, you come to terms with your grief and move on in your journey.
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
I tried to favor woodwinds for the night feel of the image, My main theme briefly insists on the natural 6th of the Dorian mode to capture the feeling of wishing
I used high piano and harp in the menu as an abstraction for stars
For the ship on the sea I use 3/4 meter with strong downbeats , like it's sailing on waves

There is some really interesting compositions ideas in your OST! I especially loved the orchestration in Midnight waves, with these counterpoint melodies happening with the woodwinds. Such a magical piece!
Also the build up exploding around 20s in Some Wishes don't come true is so satisfying! It has a really convincing orchestra feel and what comes next is heart wrenching, I could totally identify with what you wrote for this part of the story. Very good submission with some pretty amazing moments! Thank you for sharing it :)
Wow, this was really great! I really enjoyed Midnight Waves, but every track was well done. I love the heavy use of woodwinds, and your orchestrations were well written throughout.
This is so beautiful. I don't know musical theory but I can certainly appreciate your composition skills, these tracks are amazing. Lovely work!
Main Menu: I love the dissonances in the long woodwind notes. This definitely helps capture the air of mystery. The piano chords also have a glimpse of hope which allows for complex emotions to develop. This track works very well as a menu theme - it’s calm and sets the stage for the story to come.
Midnight Waves: I am a fan of the deceptive v-VI-i (I think?) cadence used throughout. The bassoon works really well in this piece as a bridge between sections of high woodwind and low strings. The 3/4 lilting, as you described, works very well to paint the imagery of a ship swaying on the ocean.
Underwater World: Your mallets create an otherworldly feeling that is fitting for underwater, but also would work well for outerspace. I found myself having a hard time finding a tonal center of this piece, but I think that’s probably intentional - having an ethereal and ambient slow swaying feeling. I like it a lot!
Some Wishes Don’t Come True: The Andalusian cadence at the beginning conveys a sense of loss right from the beginning and then transitions well into the big orchestral dread, grief, and pleading sound of the large orchestral hits with timpani. So many complex emotions in this song! I like the progression and think it does a good job portraying the story you describe. Thank you for sharing!
I love Midnight Waves and Some Wishes Don't Come True. Beautiful, flowing, nice dynamic contrasts in the latter. Great job!
Very pretty composition. Love the use of the flat 6 over the I chord in the first track, always an instant magical feel. Loved the borrowed natural 6 from Dorian in the final track, and how you would contrast it with the flat 6 in the following phrase. Great work!
Wonderful job! I enjoyed your writing and orchestration. Great work on this!
The Main Menu music is soft and serene, with nice winding harmonies. Your main theme is very unique, drifting in unusual parts of the scale with odd harmonic inflections. There is a lot of potential to reharmonize this strange melody, and I look forward to hearing it in the other tracks!
Midnight waves is short and solid! You're pulling some lovely timbres out of the Musescore 4 palette so far. I really enjoy the lack of constant repetition in this soundtrack: things keep changing to keep the interest alive!
Underwater world is another example of some really unique and lovely harmonies.
Really dramatic finish with Some Wishes Don't Come True! I love a little Dorian inflection ;)
I applaud your thematic development and exploration of harmony. Solid work!
Wow, this is really pretty! My favorite track was some wishes don't come true
This is lovely! I like how you used and creatively developed a common theme throughout the soundtrack. such a small motif but very recognizable, it balloons to grand proportions by the final track. I wish you wouldn't leave us hanging ending on the V at the end of the last track but I guess some wishes can't come true! I see what you did there. :D Great work!
Beautiful soundtrack!
