Description
"Inside my world" is an action-adventure dark sci-fi game where you are an AI parasite that needs to keep a little girl detained but happy into a Matrix like dreamy simulacrum. You get your resources from little girl's happiness and you need to do that by creating the dreamiest fantasy world and keeping her curiosity alive.
I wrote and produced the music in Cubase Pro 12.
The music is a blend between cinematic, orchestral, electronic and ambient.

The first track is like an ouverture, where the mood is settled. You listen to it while navigating through the menu and/or while the game loads.I wrote the theme mixing a major and a whole tone scales and by this alternation I tried to evoke the strangeness of the game. The first part, although is a bit strange, is rather joyful in a waltz mood. The second part of the piece transports you into AI's world.

The second track depicts the dreamy mood of the little girl while plays with all kinds of friendly creatures and balloons. Using the major scale and switching the leitmotif from a 3/4 to 4/4

Third track describes the mood beneath the simulacrum, the "underworld" of the AI parasites. I used the main leitmotif on a Messiaen's limited transposition modal scale and in the first part of it there's fugato like sequence. The second part shows how things evolve and the stress becomes bigger as the little girl gets bored and wants to do other things.

Fourth track can be used for either accomplishing or failing the task and was created using the whole tone scale to maintain the creepiness.

Main titles - I like the transition from "cute" to creepy and broken...

Perfect playground - There's a twofold feeling here. On the one hand, it still sounds nice. With another... I'm scared.

Digital parasites - ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR (My favorite track, by the way)

End credits - Good... This track is also my favorite!

You have made an incredibly high-quality and "broken" soundtrack... I got Quake-style vibes from the "broken" tracks.... thank you!

Thank you for your feedback. Quake, one of my favorites. Glad that I managed to get you scared. Haha

The Continued Quest To Rate Albums with Few Ratings To Hopefully Get Some In Return

I really like the shift in the soundscape, where the electronic elements overpowered the cutesy, wholesome music. The conceptual shift is very well done and hints at a world and a game bigger than what we are hearing. That you manage to represent the theme in both styles is also remarkable.

Developer

Thank you! Yes, my main goal was to use the same leitmotif in different nuances.

Felt a lot like Metroid which was really neat!

Developer

It's the second time I get this feedback so I definitely need to check that out! Thank you.

This is a really neat mix of edenic and creepy. I also learned what a mode of limited transposition is. Nice!

Extremes are my piece of pie. Thank you!

Main Title starts off sounding rather innocent and dreamy and then slowly decays into a rather dark and corrupted sounding indefinable space - was not expecting this departure of tone at all, but you did a really good job with it. Great sound design in the latter half specifically - I love how it sounds like everything is actively degrading and falling apart.

Perfect Playground came as a surprise as it almost feels as though it functions as a continuation to the first half of the main theme, prompting another departure in expectations. Well arranged throughout with some sense of ambiguity in where its headed and what kind of tone it wants to set.

Digital Parasites makes no allusions as to what it isn't - it has a rather ominous feel to it in the first half. Meandering along, bathing in uncertainty.  The half-way point comes along and the overall tone turns much more oppressing, as though the player has been spotted or is now actively being chased. Choice of synths here is interesting - plays back into the ending of the Main Theme in regards to active degradation and corruption.

Finally, End Credits cuts straight to the point with the tone. The chase has come to an end and it doesn't seem like a good ending for the player. I like the various glitching effects in this, from the thoughtful use of stuttering to the layered, distorted bell-like tone of the snare and the noise bursts.

I think my favorite of the four may be End Credits - it is unapologetically intimidating. Everything was arranged really well and I enjoyed the dark tones that are omnipresent throughout the mix. Great work. :)

Thank you for listening and for this detailed description of it.

Fantastically dark! That title theme's really interesting, how those very unsettling voices and sound effects come creeping in. I can hear little bits of Metroid Prime in that end credits too, those processed percussion noises - pretty eerie! Excellent job, and really impressive technical work.

Thank you, Daniel! Now you got me interested in searching Metroid Prime.

Really appreciate it since it's coming from a guy that did a great job with his stuff.

Super cool sound design, especially track 4 and the end of 3. I enjoyed the darker approach you took to the theme.

Developer

Thank you! My guess was that many will approach the theme in a lighter, more serene way so I went the opposite.

Got some goosebumps while listening to the first song. It has a very interesting buildup and was very fiting. Also the other songs fitted your vision very vell and were excecutied quite well. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I got goosebumps as I read your comment, too. Haha

Neet sound design on the first track. It describe the AI parasite perfectly !

I really liked it's creepy melody too, perfect ambiance :)

I also liked the melody of your 2nd traces a lot, very light hearted.

The build in the middle of this 3rd track is really cool too.

Insane 4th track for a boss battle honestly! =0

There's a very consistent vibe overall the whole ost, great job!
