Description
Orchestral composition for a fictional fantasy adventure/exploration game inspired by games like The Last Guardian where a woman discovers a dragon, a being no one has seen in centuries. Throughout the game, she tries to get its trust climaxing in a sequence where she finally gets to ride the dragon.
Total runtime is 5:03
The main theme (The White Dragon's Melody) mimics their curiosity for each other, building towards a climax where a bond is formed, not fully secure at first but as time goes on they open up to each other.
The second track (Lost in the Meadow) represents a theme for an exploration sequence in the middle of the game when the woman and the dragon have gotten close to each other but there is still some distrust.
Both tracks were composed in Ableton and mixed in Reaper, with the virtual instruments being mostly Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphonic Orchestra + Addictive Keys for the piano.
Composition mostly came down to finding a sequence in the piano I was happy with and progressively layering orchestral sounds to accompany it.
For the mix I didn't do much, it ended up being mostly volume automation with slight EQs here and there, a Valhalla Vintage Verb was also used in a return track to give the sound some cohesion and a sense of space.
Message from the artist
First time doing a game jam of this style, this was fun!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Used the title to signify the importance of the dragon and the picture gave a sense of their relationship.
Both her outfit and the dragon's horn jewelry pushed me more toward a big orchestral fantasy sound.

They do say great minds think alike
Thank you!
Wow! One of the most beautiful submissions I've heard for this jam so far; Really well done!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it
I like when the strings come in at 0:52 in The White Dragon's Melody. blossoming
thanks!
Really interesting chord choices in Lost in the Meadow. Made following the melody and adventure in it's own right.
thank you, the goal was kinda trying to go for the idea of being directionless in an open area where you could explore
I'm not sure how well I achieved it but your comment made me feel like I was at least going the right way
The White Dragon's Melody: I really love this. Great composition, swelling strings and pretty piano.
Lost In The Meadow: Love the pizzicato. My first thought was "forest theme" which really fits this track given "meadow".
Great work!
I appreciate the words, I'm glad my intentions came through
Very nice! I love it when the full orchestra came in. Well done!
Many thanks!
I like how main theme goes from gentle piano to full blown epic orchestra. Well done!

I liked the staccato strings a lot!
oh hey thanks! good luck with the rest of your rating journey
Gonna finish the last of them today!
I loved the movement throughout The White Dragon’s Melody. The push and pull and builds really told the story of their bond forming!
