- This game definitely gave me old school NES platformer vibes, and I think it really captures the aesthetic and overall movement of those games well. I think that the controls might need some tweaking. Having the on-screen tip say to press "Enter" to proceed through the initial bits of text, but then making that the map key, overall made it difficult to keep tabs on what keys did what. It felt like the controls could be a bit simpler. Aside from the need for more straightforward controls, the overall feel of movement was great. I liked the challenge of the map (and having the mini-map felt helpful, but not too helpful).

Kelfric’s Kurse is an mini-metroidvania action platformer which plays on the idea of the Midas Touch — except with Kelfric’s powerful punches that transmute gorblins into gold. 👊
Two other abilities are unlocked in New Game+ (only one ability is chosen per run)

Such an inspiration, your team is so damn talented! Feels like Warioland with the movement and delay punch. Incredibly well presented and featureful! I have a lot to learn before I can achieve something with this level of cool. Great job!
Ecaroh back at it again with another absolute banger. Such a fun little game and the new game + options are pretty interesting too!!! Super impressive that this level of polish was finished within the time-frame of a gamejam.
The only criticism I could find is that the green spikes enemy can stun-lock you and hit you twice depending where you land on it, but that is probably just a skill issue on my part. A way to remap controls would be nice too!
OMG the vibe is absolutely stunnig! The graphic and audio elements fits perfectly together.
I really enjoy platformer and that delayed attack mechanic - it's so unique man!
It's really really good game! :)
This is absolutely brilliant. The visual style is incredibly unique, but it's also extremely cohesive with the sound and overall feel of the game. The levels of polish for a game made in such a short time are unreal. Every ability feels satisfying to execute, and I love how distinct the character's moveset is, avoiding common platformer tropes altogether. Tiny touches like the filters on the audio while paused are also appreciated. And there's a New Game + mode?
I've got no words. This is a CLEAR winner in my book.
Wow thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed playing!
Initially I had actually planned for Kelfric to have all three abilities available at the same time, but I was running into the problem that the combat was not really deep enough to justify it. Whenever I had people playtest, they always favored the punch over everything else! I wish I could have had some more enemy attacks that could have warranted the full 'super smash bros' control scheme and required different strategic approaches to different enemies.
Thank you for playing and leaving a review :)
Super polished, and just overall fun to play. Love the art style. The map is also massive. Very impressive. The controls felt a bit clunky because I was trying to do everything with my left hand. When I switched to arrow keys with my right hand it was easier.
Glad you discovered the dual keyboard support! I know it's a matter of preference so I tried to accommodate everyone at the same time. (I'm also a keyboard + Z/X player). Thanks for playing :)
Probably my favourite game visually so far, punching the goblins is super satisfying and I love the visual effects. The audio was also spot on, plus I like Kelfric's little noises lol
Thanks so much :) I'm glad you enjoyed punching goblins. If nothing else, I wanted that part of the game to feel good so I'm glad it was! Also glad you liked the sounds. I had fun doing my own foley for it haha
