- The controls were a little clunky, but still playable and enjoyable. I really liked that the enemies were actual shadows and that added a challenge to fighting them. The mechanic of switching back and forth between realms was interesting and made for engaging combat. I did encounter a shadow door that I couldn't close so enemies kept spawning and I got overwhelmed. Overall the game was fun and I could see this being developed more into something really awesome.

Secrets of the Shadows: Alaric's Quest by Ace of Grace
The player guides Alaric through shadowy dungeons. He needs to collect different colored essences from slain enemies to further transmute the progression of Alaric. On the transmutation table, the player can use those collected essences to change Alaric’s robe to different colors, which allow him to pass through portals with the same color.

Not bad :) Others have commented already on the movement speed; I would add that the combat feels "mushy" - a screenshake would make substantial difference, so would the hit sound effects. Block seemed entirely useless, because it takes SO LONG to establish it (and in one dungeon it kept de-blocking for some unknown to me reason); strong attack didn't seem to work for me. I ended up with 20 shadow essences and only 2 water ones, when I required 3 to progress - after three dungeon runs :( The drops seemed random, and because the combat didn't feel good - that's where I stopped playing. Still, congratulations on getting to the finish line with a rather complex and feature-rich game where nothing is outright broken!
I love the artstyle and the concept of a dungeon crawling wizard. I don't understand why the walking speed is so slow, I would suggest making the current sprint speed the walking speed. The death sound effect for the first tutorial monster made me laugh, but I don't think it's a good sound if you want to keep going with this game.
The gameplay loop was cool tho, getting essences on missions to get new powerups. With some more polish to the combat and movement, this could be a really cool game.
Nice job!
A fun little romp in the dungeons!
Overall a great entry to the jam, well done!
This is a way bigger project of what I think a gamejam game is, well done.
The game on complex works and have intresting point, I like the environment and how you structured the dungeon.
There are minor bug like spinning enemies body when dead, and maybe too loud enemy footsteps, but if you can use the spinning body in some fun way I think it would be hilarious.
GG !
Thanks, we really understimated the time needed for polishing at the end :D
You weren't lying we the loading time XD that aside congratulations with your first gamejam! i hope is the first of many more :)
i would certainly recommend you to try more simple genre next time XD keep it up!
Yeah luckily we tested early enough and could tune down some visual stuff and remove some of the environment to increase the loading :D
The next jam entry of ours will definitly be a simpler genre, therefore more polished
