  • Very unique concept, very fun to play. On it's own it's a great game, it fits the theme in a different way. It follows shadows a bit more then any real alchemy, some finding some plants or objects and making hints along the way would have brought that up to the full theme.

Mello is a 2D creature and has found themselves in a higher dimensional maze. You must help Mello to find their way out again by traversing 3D whilst only ever being able to see and walk in 2D.

You can walk by using the arrow keys and switch between 3 planes by using the keys 1,2 & 3 . On the bottom left it will also display what plane you currently are on.

If you need more information click on the button in the top right and go to "Info".

Have fun and good luck! :)

Extra Notes
I interpreted the theme as "tranformation" of the 2D plane in 3D which is the main game mechanic of this minigame.

I would like to add more levels in the future, this is only a prototype.

The art is so cute! Love the minimal magical shadowy color palette.

I found it easy to win a couple times just moving randomly toward the exit in each dimension, without needing to think or strategize around the 3d map. (Or, maybe wandering toward the exit in each dimension IS the strategy.) If the maze were any harder it might be way too hard for a first level and lose the exploratory part, but I could see this being fun with multiple levels that are designed to start really simple to teach you how things work and then ramp up the difficulty until it really is necessary to think through your steps .

Great submission! The art and music are very clean and consistent. It was too difficult for me to visualize what the maze looked like by playing only a few minutes, but I guess that is the point. I like the alchemy interpretation but I think your concept is lacking a bit on the shadows side (I also didn't find that in your GDD). That is unfortunate, because I think you could have incorporated that easily within this concept. I really liked the changing backgrounds when changing perspective, that helped a bit with understanding what was going on. One point of feedback:
The icons for the "powers" were not meaningful enough for me.

Nice work!

Oh, and I would also link your GDD in the description of your game page. Just in case the reviewers don't want to press a button that says "download" :)

Thank you! :) To be honest I had difficulties myself getting to the exit and I designed the map hahah.  The icons are supposed to be an abstract representation of a coordinate system but I think since the map is already quite difficult I should have made the icons more clear. Yes you are right I kinda forgot about the shadows part, I think I misunderstood the theme initially and thought you had to choose one or the other. Maybe I still have some time to make some changes... Thank you for playing the game and the feedback, I really appreciate it :)

Thanks for the feedback on the GDD as well, I added a Link now as well :)
