  • Sound effects were great. The "how to play" section was very well done. I appreciate how you explained with words and also gave the images of what it looks like in game. I love the sound options, of being able to mute the music and/or sound effects. If a slider could be added to turn things down that would be appreciated too. A bit more balancing of the enemies and levels would be good, but I got pretty far and was able to understand how the different enemies attacked. The game is stellar. It's a puzzle with strategy. Feels like chess to me in the best way. Really good interpretation of the jam's theme. Killer purple goo just feels fun. Figuring out how to get some of the game lore into the game would be a great addition to the game. This is an excellent first game jam game submission. Thank you!

Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
I Must Consume is a tactical strategy game where you control a ravenous living weapon. Grow your mass by consuming enemies for energy, while racing to smother enemy spawners before they overwhelm you. Every move risks destruction – expand strategically to survive. Outsmart their attacks, feed your hunger, and dominate the grid.

There is a how-to play screen inside the game if needed.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
This game fits the theme because the player isn’t controlling a character who uses weapons—they are the weapon. The biomass exists solely to destroy its enemies.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I want the judges to pay particular attention to the core loop and visuals, as these were my primary focus. I built everything from the ground up—code, graphics, and the title theme. At the same time, the combat theme and sound effects were sourced (Pixabay). Everything else reflects my effort and vision.

Always very impressed with solo projects. Took me a few tries (when spawners first appeared) to get the hang of it but all the more rewarding once I did. Very well done

Really fun game. The last level made me use my brain a bit but still did it. Nice Job❤

Nice little game, couldn't finish the final level, was too hard for me. But it was fun and polished, congratz!

I like it! The ninjas seem overpowered though.

Thanks for taking the time to play it!

Yeah, they do feel a bit tough sometimes, but once you have a feel for how they attack, it is doable. I would spend more time balancing the enemies/levels if I had more time.

Also that error message might be an export setting, I would have to look into that as well.

I'll try in a different browser real quick, since trying to reset will also reset the game randomizer.
