  • I really loved the pixel art style and the energetic music—it gave me strong nostalgic vibes, almost like those old aerobic home videos. The sound effects were spot on and even reminded me of the 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. The theme was well implemented, making you feel like the weapon against the hordes of zombies. The short training phases (cue training montage) were a great touch, reinforcing the idea of getting stronger through preparation. One area for improvement would be rebalancing the hitboxes and zombie animations. There were moments when it wasn’t clear when a zombie was attacking, or instances where a zombie that seemed far away still managed to hit me. Additionally, the inclusion of healing or buff items—like a protein shake, energy bar, cucumber water, or lemon slices—could provide more depth and survivability. The GDD is exceptionally well-documented, but adding a Development Timeline could make it easier to follow the game’s progression throughout development. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing this game, and I’m excited to see how it evolves! Keep up the great work!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes!

Summarise your game!
It's a beat 'em up game, that we focused a lot to bring some 80s aesthetics with a fun touch wherever we could. The "golden era" of gym in a more chaotic way.

It should support keyboard and gamepad (tested with a xbox gamepad here).

Something that you may notice is the "lack" of particles/VFX... There's actually a fair amount of particles and juicyness, but I just found out that WebGL doesn't support what I used (Unity's Graph VFX). I've made available a downloadable version of the game, the way it should be experienced, even though I know it'll probably not be considered for judging.

Once again, thank you all for the awesome game jam! Hope you all like our game :D

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Pump some iron, get strong, become a human weapon of mass zombie destruction.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We REALLY wanted to bring the 80s vibe into this game, but we're still not sure if we were able to achieve that, so we'd like to hear from the judges their thoughts :D

It's a super simple but addicting gameplay loop! I thought the 80s vibe was definitely there. Good job!

I love the idea of exercising in between each wave to get stronger. Nice art style and music fits well with atmosphere.

The theme is funny and I like the main character. For her...personality.

I really enjoyed the art style and music. Really helped me get pupped to keep training. I like the ability to go around the gym and have different exercises to increase stats to fight off the zombies.
