cool game! gameplay is simple, but at the same time addictive. however, the progression here is quite slow: the latest tools have to grind a lot of money. also, placing blocks is not the most convenient. but anyway, good job!
This was a very good game. The gameplay, although simple, was quite addicting. The aesthetics (both the art and music) were excellent. Although the progression felt a little slow, as after the first couple drills you'd just be going back and forth from the mine doing the same thing every time. I also feel like the controls should be clarified in the game. I didn't really read the itch.io page before I played, and until I did I had no idea you could place blocks. But all in all great job guys, you should be proud of yourselves!
(side note, somewhat unrelated to the game: I loved how you styled the itch.io page)
The music is pretty cool, and I noticed the player sprite skew a little toward the movement direction, that's good! Two suggestions, first the progression can be adjusted, it's a bit slow here. Secondly I found the pickaxe confusing at first, maybe show a little cooldown animation, also if the type of rock can't be broken, there needs to be some sort of indication. Cool game!
There is something in those mining games, you just cannot stop. I had to got the most expensive tool and explore everything :D
Loved the overall presentation of the game! Very charming with the animation and music, I especially loved the slowing/pitching down of the music at the lower level; that was an awesome detail!
These are some nitpick things, but (noticeably for the earlier tools), I was expecting it to break right where my crosshair was, but it seems to be based on the actual rotation of the tool? It got noticeable when I would try to make a sort of stair-like breaking pattern to get upwards, where I'd be aiming towards the upper block, but it would break the lower one instead. I also wished the caves were a little bigger, especially towards the end, it felt like I was having to go back up again and again, it kinda felt like I was 'resetting' and I would have liked to just grind out as much as I needed to get the next tool---completely understandable though given the size of the game and the timeframe you had to make it.
Overall really polished and a lovely game! :)
It's like Minecraft but in 2D! Love the soundtrack, would leave the game on just to listen to it even if I don't actively mine.
Genuinely the game I spent most time playing in this jam so far, hahah! It's simple yet it makes me want to keep going. I'm a sucker for upgrades :P
I need to point out that the music was REALLY good, I absolutely loved the sound change to an eerie vibe in the diamond levels!!!
It took me quite a lot of time to get the last upgrade xP But it was SO WORTH IT, I got to the end :D Way to keep an achiever-player happy heheh, I'm very satisfied u.u
