How does your entry fit the theme?
We decided to make a tower defense that has a unique mechanic - that is, that towers only shoot when they have been pinged by an echo generator. Each level would have pre-placed generators that pulse echoes out at certain ranges, speeds, and cadences.

What would you like feedback on?
Anything - if a focus is preferred, the theme around the generator echo mechanic for tower shooting.

What assets did you use (if any)?
SFX & Music: freesounds.org
Art: original creation in Aseprite

I got stuck in the tutorial where it tells me what the space bar does and  I can't get pass that for some reason, do I have to press a specific button or something?

I think the mechanic with the echo generator has high potential. Maybe there could be multiple of them with different shooting speed or that you could place them by yourself. With some more work this could get a really fun game.

This game is a simple yet enjoyable experience! I really like it! The art style is fantastic, and the variety of different towers adds a nice touch to the gameplay. Overall, it provided a decent amount of fun!

If I were to be a bit picky, I did encounter an odd bug. Before defeating the two big bosses, the game unexpectedly displayed the 'thanks for playing' screen. Since I was in build mode at the time, I couldn't exit without force quitting the application. Additionally, I found the game to be quite short. It would have been great to have an endless mode where I could continue playing and face increasingly challenging waves! (I wanted an army of towers dammit! lol)

Nevertheless, it's still a delightful little game! The theme was implemented perfectly in my opinion, and the art is absolutely lovely. I just wish I had more time to fully enjoy it. Considering the limited development time of just three days, I understand the constraints. Making a game in such a short period is quite a feat! So despite my critiques, you should be proud of your accomplishment. Good work! :)

This is a rare situation where I think a jam entry was way too short!! I was havin a great time and getting a feel for the game, and it ended really abruptly.

I'm sure you were strapped for time, but I think it would have been valuable to invest the time it'd take to make the waves infinitely scale in difficulty. It wouldn't have had to be anything complicated; just spawning X amount more enemies per wave, giving them X% more health per wave, etc.

As for the main gimmick of towers only being able to shoot around the generator, I didn't really feel its presence. I played this one as I would any other tower defense I've played, which is to say I spammed all of the towers towards the start of the track and let them run wild. The only real difference is that I kept them within range of the echo generator, which didn't really affect the game that much to me.

I like the idea, although it is very short. I share the concern of Fledered that the echo generator does not have a big impact yet. However, this is a game I would like to see more of, because this could become a very interesting game.

That was too short but that was fun ! The art is good and everything works well! The menu could get more polish (replacing the font would already make a huge difference) and going in build mode should be placed in a more accessible key (like Tab or Shift) but that's really nitpicking.

My biggest concerns is that the echo generator (which is a very interesting feature) doesn't actually have that much of an impact of the game. It basically just feels like the turrets shoot at regular interval which is a shame.

I'm sure with more time and more thoughts, this fun idea could turn into an incredible concept !

Firstly, I love the pixel art in this game. I can definitely see that effort went into the visuals and animations. The idea of having to work your buildings around generators instead of just placing them randomly like most tower defense games is great as well. I think that having a little more content as well as a slight bit of polish in the UI and such would really benefit this game. Very nice :)
