Really nice ambience and animations.

Great visual art, and, while I have seen this sort of idea before, it never really gets old – because it’s playing with the idea of what a digital experience can be. The players’ thoughts become part of the game because of the context it comes inextricably bundled with.

[ edit, 11 Nov 2023: On further thought, I think the below paragraph was way too harsh, at best; after all, a game like this is also what the player brings to it, so maybe it was me that was lacking. ]

Though, it didn’t grab me in quite the same way as other similar experiences did, and it took me quite a while to put a finger on the ‘why’ of it. I played on the actual hardware, and I think the screen might just be too small to give such a meaningful experience (to me) in such a (ha) short time. (That last part is important – I absolutely think that, given more time, games on the Playdate should be able to ‘suck you in’.)

The content warning actually giving the game context was a really nice idea!

this was beautiful, very impressed with the kind of textures and movement pulled of on the display here.

because of the nature&title of the game I assume only being able to experience the sunset once per install is intended and not a bug – but either way I like it a lot

was also confused about the tonal output of pressing the A button and I think I was able to reverse crank to prolong the sunset but I didn’t want to and now I’ll have to reinstall to try again hah. I feel like there might be more hidden in that but I could just be paranoid.

using the contentDescription as a part of the story telling reminded me of some hint fiction, that was clever!

Really good tech demo here. The art is very beautiful and is honestly stunning and showcases how far you can take the screen of the playdate. Definitely worth checking out! 🌅

I found the visuals to be appealing  and overall I liked the message that the game provided and what it said to me. I think I felt a little bit confused on what the tone of the A button was supposed to do. And I also do like the idea that the game  can only be  played once (although that can easily be remedied if someone decides to delete their game data).

Overall great little project with a simple and clear message that made me feel some emotions.

Thanks for your feedback. Nice to hear, that you tried to play it a second time. I guess I am ok with the possibility of a replay through deleting the game data. It would be nice to be able to remove this feature for a game like this (Although you could still delete the .json file when mounting the pd as a drive) but this way there at least exists a hack to "live another day", which I also like the idea of.
Via the A Button (in conjunction with the up and down key) you are able to play your own "soundtrack".  I wanted the player to decide for themselves if they just wanted to hear the ocean or to actively create the scene and the mood.

I totally understand your concern with wanting to make it so the player can't easily delete their save files. I still think deleting the save files is out of the way enough that the usual player will not delete their files.

I do like the idea of making your own music although my first impression of it was that it was a strange heart monitor and I didn't fully understand how to do it. In this format of game I probably would have liked to see the player listening to the character humming their own music that was premade but the player could decide to hum or not by pressing the A button.

yes thats a nice idea
