I also needed to do the rename to .zip then unzip trick to get it to install (nearly missed this one, good I double counted the entries!)
This one was fun, I got to see nothing but @julienkaspart shooting everything but the mermaids as soon as he realized he could 😑 I personally have a few more objections to violence against 🧜 💜
Nice to see a story and some progression!
I loved this one a lot! The gameplay is very simple but the lack of guidance and punishment made it hilarious to mess around with. Every new reveal was a wonderful escalation and gameplay twist and the end was so silly and fun. Becoming a spinning gatling gun was irresistible.
I like the use of the crank and the artwork! It's a pretty neat concept for a game.
Initial gameplay was fun and I understood that task, but once mermaids were introduced, I started to get confused about what my goals were in the game. I figured the Kraken was bad and I needed to shoot at it, but was I also supposed to do that to the mermaids? The goal wasn't clearly communicated in the dialogue and there were no visual indicators to tell me if what I was doing was right or wrong.
Additionally, I wasn't sure how the game jam's theme fit in this game. I know the person who's talking to you says he forgot about some things but did the theme ever tie into the actual gameplay?
Overall, though, I liked playing this game and I could easily see this become more outside of the game jam.
Wait, that’s not how lighthou… .. ahem, anyway!
Glad I read the other comments, as I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this gem!
Excellent use of the console, and using the theme as(/in) the final joke is inspired.
The beam is smaller when it’s closer of course, this creates an interesting effect where it’s harder to catch up on ships you’re late with. – I’m not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, or just ‘a thing’.
The story is very charming, even without that last stinger that made me really love it.
And indeed, some sound or music would’ve helped a bit (but I can’t complain as I didn’t add any to my own this time around either…)
not gonna lie, i definitely started firing at the other boats as soon as i got a shooter. chaotic evil lighthouse keeper >:3
I am glad I had the option LOL I was waiting to the moment the game told me to stop
Well, I had hopes to have "good" and "bad" ships, like pirates coming in, but the timeframe was tight... maybe later )
With more sound design and art this would have been a great contender for winner, but for a solo dev this is impressive, love this stuff!!
Thanks!
I like the idea very cool!
Thank you!
My fish soup!
I'm not really sure why, but the `.pdx` on itch won't open like others for me. I'm on a Mac, and normally double-clicking a `.pdx` will launch it in the sim. This one doesn't though ("There is no application set to open the document 'Lighthouse.pdx'"). It also doesn't appear as a "package"/folder. I downloaded from GH and built, and that PDX seems normal.
Indeed! It seems the downloaded file is a zip archive without ".zip" extension, if you add ".zip" to the downloaded file name it unpacks to "Lighthouse.pdx" that runs as expected. I think I uploaded the original pdx file (which, technically, is a folder on mac) without archiving it first.
