despite the warning the jumpscare genuinely got me !!! LOL
this one's really good — gambling really is the biggest "trick or treat" of 'em all, and the super hammed-up scream when you draw something bad from the pot is really funny. granted that is totally how i'd react if i fished an eyeball out from amidst my reeses pieces and kit kats
super polished and a fun idea to boot! i found i could get the hang of it pretty quickly once i realized the strat of selecting multiple cards — i like the risk/reward element of possibly getting a much higher number, but then not having enough cards to make it to all of the houses on the street. no matter my strat though i don't think i can beat tim; tim is too GOATed
super unique idea, and a funny take on the wording of "trick or treat"! i always love the vibe of "playing the role of a person in some menial-labor job in this RPG universe where the 'main characters' are out looting dungeons and stuff". i've definitely gotta up my dentistry skills, but in the meantime this idea's got a lot of potential and i'd love to see it go further
really nice game! it took me a try or 2 to learn the controls, but i really appreciate 'em now that i know how they work. definitely gives arcade vibes, almost like it's got a marquee around the screen the way those old machines do. the enemy pathfinding is super impressive as well, really cool you managed to pull all this off in pulp!
really fun concept!! not to draw comparisons, but it kinda reminds me of that "wanted" minigame in the original DS mario? where you had to pick the yoshi out from amongst a crowd of warios or whatever hahah
the shaking is a really neat mechanic, super well-implemented and responsive — weird stretch, but it makes me wanna see a dice game with a similar look & feel LOL. the 'fake' candy bars are also really fun to read even if they're not the main thing i should be picking. FOOBAR: a defining example!™
genuine jumpscare opening this game up for the first time LMAO
i am STUNNED at this one. runs really well considering all the moving items and enemies, has a ton of weapons and strategy (and really funny candy puns). i like that the candy drops inevitably force you to enter the direct line of danger just to try and reap your own rewards. i could totally see this in the catalog (do it!!); the fact it was made in just a handful of days is absolutely insane
found this bug! entirely just a case of me being silly, and not updating a reference to the saved high score for the new easy and hard mode. instead it tried to reference the single high score variable from before, which at best would be your hard mode score from v1.0, and at worst would be non-existent (causing the crash). now it should be just fine for the next update!
the potential here is great, i do agree with the comments below that there should be some sort of indicator to tell you when you picked up an item. what if there were multiple aisles you had to check (using the crank to scrub through), or if the store was closing in like 30 seconds so you had to do your shopping FAST, otherwise the wife would be angry at you? 😆
the control scheme is super unique here, i really like the use of momentum with the crank, feels super satisfying to just go ham and see how far i can absolutely LAUNCH a line. i think it would be really funny to have some kinda power ups, like a one-time trampoline or launch ramp 😆the score saving is also super appreciated considering the jam time. gotta get better but right now 1432 is my best
you know me, i love accidentally shredding unpaid important tax documents. i dig the "process of elimination" concept on display here, trying to find the most important thing to Not shred amongst all the mess. i will say i wish the cursor was just a tooouch faster? the "auto crank" feature is also a nice touch but i honestly want a chill "crank Only" endless mode, for the lulz 😆
man i already want this one on the catalog and it was made in jam time?? i really love the idea of the robot 'forgetting' its movements as they get pushed off the memory stack, it's a super unique take on a logic puzzle that i don't think i've ever seen before and i remain FLOORED y'all did this in only a weekend. the concept is super unique, the graphics and everything is great, please do more with this idea. i would pay good money for a "discontrolled DX"
i am not great in this one, but i was also never great in school so who am i to judge 💤
the vibe of this one is super great, brings me back to that time of school, eyeing the big clock hanging over the door every few seconds; with the big difference that this game makes me feel much less compelled to try and fake a bathroom trip to get out of it. the doodles are a super awesome community aspect (who doesn't draw in the margins of their paper honestly?), and i'm definitely gonna try to brush up on my studies more...i'll just remember to use a pencil next time; jammed the whole damn scantron
much like this guy, i too just have a hamster inside my brain doing its best
a really fun little game, i can see huge potential in showing this to someone as a demo for what the playdate's crank can do. i did wonder if there was some kind of win condition depending on what the guy is holding? i went in thinking i had to find the words that best matched up with the object in his hand. it seems more like a chill "have fun with it" scenario 😎 fun to try and find the funniest combo or just pick at random and see where it takes you
super good arcade game here!! even in its current state i can see myself coming back to this one often, it's a relatively simple idea but it's executed super well in a way that makes it really satisfying to play, especially when you can send a rocket flying rogue and hit one of the enemies perfectly. and the crank salute is just the cherry on top 🫡❤️ can't wait to see where this one goes
i really love the concept behind this one, reminds me of that classic trope of "guy is in such a rush to leave for work that he forgets his pants or something otherwise super important" 😆 i agree with the other comments that it'd be nice to see your final score tallied up at the end. plus, some kind of additional suspense or increasing difficulty to the game would be vewy nice (e.g. you get less and less time to see what you need, or there's a time limit to find the right missing thing too? increasingly more things to find?) but the hook has very strong potential here
this one's really good, i love the use of the crank in this one; lerping is always a great way to add some panic to an otherwise standard crank control. it would be waaay too easy with 1:1 crank rotation i feel. i definitely gotta up my skills at this one though, i haven't been able to see the good ending yet (stop going in the middle arg!!!), but based on my findings i think the bad ending is better 😆🦞
i LOVE the vibe of this one, kinda reminds me of "spellcorked" in season one but the whole cauldron brewing aspect might be biasing me haha. the art is great and i really really love the use of the playdate's features in this game: i'm honestly surprised how well that cursor controls with the gyro. though, i'm definitely appreciative of the spoiler guide (as well as the controls screen on the side), the goal did not click with me till then hahah
amazing work all around, folks!!
