I too really couldn't figure out the interaction between crops, people and food... I assumed I was trying to get a positive food flow (which even turning off population and planting like 30 plants didnt do), but after reading loressas comments is it just trying to get as many people as possible before everyone dies ? i could never seem to use the other crops ? are they crops ? one looks like a scarecrow or hanging tree :D

there's the core of something nice here, the Ui needs a clean up especially the cursor highlighting over the field plane rather than on it (so a flat grid would be better if you dont want to project a shader down onto the playfield)

I quite liked the audio loops, is that from an asset pack or did you compse it/have a composer ? (if it's from an asset pack lemme know which one, it's a good tune :D )

Thanks for the feedback, I could realIy improve on my UI, I find this is a common issue in many of my games. I found the music  on this page https://freepd.com/misc.php, it is titled energising. I could have made the goal more clear in the game, you were right, you are scored on the maximum amount of people that you get. I will definitely try to improve on this in the future versions of the game.

awesome, well at least you know there is enough there to tell what you're supposed to do even if it's not directly shown to the player.. UI/Ux is a whole thing and one I myself struggle with a lot of the time. Often in jams i just put all that info in the game description and hope people read it.

This was a really interesting concept - unique take on a simulation game! The UI was tricky to figure out at first and I think there may be a bug blocking progression, but the overall idea kept me a bit hooked to keep trying!

Notes from gameplay:

not intuitive to figure out what i'm doing at first glance. I highlighted everything in green and now I have stacked play/fastforward pause buttons. Clicking one led to a game over with a score of 22

trying again, nice job with restart button

oh looks like the stacked buttons are still here. Refresh game page and restarted fresh, looks like it's a UI error or confusing UI design. Poking at it a bit and I've figured out they are different symbols for time speedup. Wary of that last one, I guess it ends the game.

can't seem to do anything, keep highlighting terrain and nothing happens

oh, i think i was paused?

this ? overlay is awesome

fight enemies? That'll be interesting

omg how do only 10 people eat this much food, hungries. I don't think the display is accurate or the counter is wrong. I'm on day 3 and down to 500 food. doesn't seem like time is progressing. it's set at x360 but still day 3.

Hearing planting noises but not always seeing a line update with more crops.

skipped day, everyone starved. Trying again...

how do I harvest...

this mouse cursor effect is pretty

score 21 in big, 22 in small

can't seem to figure out how to feed people :(

i just realized planting takes from my food resources as well, so I was basically planting myself to death

hmm another game other, score 29, but i had plenty of food

selection cuts into terrain on some parts of map

...is that flying cheese?

another game over, score 29, caught a glimpse of plants switch to grown before game over screen, looks like maybe a bug with that?

and game over again, score 30, as soon as plants matured

Thank you for such great feedback! I recognise that the UI was quite confusing for many. I will be iterating over all the feedback I have gotten from this jam in the next few weeks for a school project. Would you be interested in playtesting the game once I have developed it further? I would be grateful for your help and time because you feedback has been very useful!

Absolutely, just let me know when you want another playtest :)
