I like the open-ended exploration, and the level definitely gives you a sense of scale. It seems like one of those games you'd have had as a kid that made you think "how can this whole world be in this tiny gameboy?"
Criticisms: the music is very repetitive, the controls are a little frustrating, and I wish there was some HUD to show how much current health I have, as I kept dying unexpectedly.
But it's a cool and ambitious game for a jam, and you should be proud of your work
thanks, the mini map and health icons didn't make it in unfortunately.
The art style here is really excellent. The concept is interesting, I would love to know what games inspired this, the feel is unique and very cool. I haven't used GBStudio since before the platforming and Game Boy Color options were added, but I am sure working within the limitations and making such cool art was a challenge. Well done.
strangely Home alone for the game boy is what I had in mind for the sprite work and Kirby for the tile art.
this is practice for trying out a metroidvania style later on.
It's a realy gameboy game who i never played before XD.
I love the pixel art usage in this game, the map are big enouth for a exploration feells but not to big for a gameboy game.
I think you can put some notes to complete the music XD. But you care about making one and i will give you a good Rate for it.
I think you realy understand the meaning of "Era "Feel"" and make a game thinking in this purpose.
Great job! I realy enjoy it!
thanks, honestly music is not my strong point. I was worried the maps might be a little do big.
the maps size are perfect! and a simple music is better then nothing XD.
Congrats for the care with your game, i realy apreciate your job!
I liked how big and open the levels were- it gives the game a sense of exploration and scale. In terms of graphics and sound, you've definitely achieved that retro feel too. Solid entry- I enjoyed it :)
Good pixel art :)
Its a great entry!
