What was the origin story?
Star X Knight is a project I started so long ago I can hardly remember. It's had so many names since but this is the first time I've ever felt proud to call it a game I made. I plan to continue it well after this game jam.
The original idea of the game was a Blue-Mage esque character who could learn from virtually everything by copying souls. As well I also wanted to write a story about a world saving hero having to deal with the trauma of that path in life such as losing family and friends and being forced into roles you don't want to be. I managed to get the first part out but deadlines forced me to cut out much of the second half for this demo anyways.

Love the music! Very cool game
This is a really good entry! Similar to below comments though the enemies are too hard, and even at level 2 I couldn't kill/get past the first boss stage ( >︹<)
It is very well done though, and reminds me a lot of FFXIV's Endwalker expansion with the birdperson called Starmiion, and calling us 'Little Spark' and telling us to focus/breathe lol ^ↀᴥↀ^
This will be an amazing game once finished, as it'd very detailed, sound is great, level design is great, character designs and etc... pretty perfect!
The only issue I had was how long it took to kill enemies and obviously the deaths with the boss, as they're just too hard and take too long |⁰⊖⁰)
Amazing job though, really strong contender in the jam!

Is the demo ends in the first boss battle? Because if it's not then why the damage is 20 if Starmiion's health is 18 XD I always lose in the first round even if my stats are full. Good game, great job!
(Edit) I found some Unique coins and used them to level up and defeated the boss! To be honest, I kept spamming Protect and Scolding Strike, they couldn't land a single hit on me and won with ease! Maybe I would suggest that Protect doesn't heal and keep its ability to, you know, protection? or make it to use PP or SP because I felt like a cheater ;^^
Have I failed to convey that the coins are how the game levels up? I’ll have to fix that then cause you get two of them before the boss and that was what I balanced around. Protect in it’s current state is a bit strong so I might lower it’s power but it is supposed to let you heal a bit. I might just lower the values. And it’s also supposed to be easy to beat, it’s a tutorial boss and it was meant to show how the powers you get from certain enemies can make other enemies much easier. It’s a slightly extreme example but still.
When I hear the term Unique coins (or coins in general) I would think that I would use them to purchase something unique, and when I hear level up I would think that in order to do that I would have to defeat enemies and gain experience, but props for trying something unique!
Oh my, you're telling me that I have spent almost 40 minutes trying to defeat a tutorial boss? :'D

The character pictures are well done.
The combat is fun, but I faced the same issues Abe mentioned in those fights.
Currently working on a difficulty tweak for the game. Didn’t realize it was as hard as it is cause I think some of the numbers got spiked in exporting. Either way, working on it now, and it’ll be fixed super soon.

I absolutely love this game, and I am so excited for the full release! The first enemy fight was amazing. I love that it just gave a somewhat challenging fight from the get go that shows the amazing mechanics. The next two fights, however, are lacking. The ruby root swarm was a damage sponge and I stood no chance in the boss fight. I still feel like I don't understand as much of the world as the game would like, but what I do understand is awesome. I love the cinematics and the focus scene was awesome. The art style and music was charming, although I saw a few placeholders. Again, amazing game with a few flaws. I'm so glad you decided to continue with this.

That long walk was certainly longer and more cinematic than expected "SNAAAAAKE EAAATER". I really like the attention to detail in the events really brings out the characters and makes them likable. I'm really sad that the difficulty didn't get fixed in the end though. I though it would be possible after taking down the ruby root swarm (which took a ton of hits) but the ruby lord was way to powerful for me to stand a chance. The music was really good, but could use a little mixing work. When the guitar music fades into the boss music the boss music is far too quiet, kinda messing up the vibe. I'm also a little confused since not all the music was in the downloadable ost. Is some of it placeholder?

Wonderful game! Love the music and the graphics. The story is very elaborate, I liked the humor! Keep up the awesome work.
