Description
The initial inspiration for this cover came from when I did a simple conversion of the original track to MIDI. I expected the conversion to sound terrible, but it wasn't half bad; it somehow turned the epic fantasy feel of the original into something warmer and cozier.

Using that as inspiration, I dialed back the warmth and coziness a bit and came up with this cover: titled "Yellow Wizard Needs Warmth Badly". Part way through arranging this, I realized that I had put some Xenoblade Chronicles influence into it. I thought to myself "Guitar? Piano? In the cold? I feel like I'm in back on Valak Mountain."

This cover was made with Cakewalk by Bandlab, and various VSTs and plugins by Air Music Tech and others. A full list can be found on the project page.

I really enjoyed this - actually even more than the original! The choice of instruments and the mixing was spot on, it felt pulled from a (good!) indie platformer. It even feels like you could even add a beat underneath it and have lo-fi Gauntlet :D

Just very pleasing indeed, one of my favourites from the whole Jam!

This is very chill, I like it a lot.

I think the one thing I would maybe spend some time with would be development of the themes more quickly, or adding things. There's a dance to it, IDK how to describe it, it's something I'm working on myself.

Good stuff! :)

The bells and wind ambience really give this a mountainy vibe as you described! The cellos and mallets work super well together. Then the piano and voices are the icing on the cake! So silky and so beautiful. I could listen to this playing all day. I think this is a fantastic adaptation from the original! Great work and thank you for sharing!

Man, I could totally see myself standing on a mountain, listening to this track, and just enjoying the scenery for at least 5 minutes. You really nailed the feeling. Thanks for sharing!
