This game has the best joke of the jam!

(The score counting upwards, with the dev score next to it... genius... it feels so easy)

There's a lot of good advice here so I don't think there's much that I can add. I really like that you wanted to get a jump start on game development - you can already do more in Unity than I can :)

I love the art of the exterior of the house (on the main menu and such).

One thing I noticed that no one else has pointed out is that the walk cycle animation doesn't work if you're going left or right, only if you're going up or down.

This is a good effort. I know it's not where you want it to be but you made a game in 48 hours and it has a complete gameplay cycle (although there's nothing to say that you've won/lost but I know you'll fix that). Yay!

Thank you so much! all these things are the things I am going to add in the updated version :) since ill have a little more time to refine the game itself xD

The character art is really neat, as for the house it's important to keep the scale of the art the same where possible.

Apart from other people's notes, I had some sticky corners where my character wouldn't move at first after clearing an item, as if it was still there or something and blocking me. There were also some issues with the animation not correctly choosing between Idle and Walking (also adding an inverse to the sprite so the character would look left when walking left would have been a nice/easy improvement).

I guess the objective was to clear the house in under the 50, it wasn't really obvious until after finishing.

Overall it was a great idea, and thumbs up for following the theme!

Thank you! as soon as I'm finished with finals ill add an upload with as many patched parts the comments have points!

Dope idea. Good job on creating the assets! In general with UI, make sure to try and follow general guidelines such as contrast and composition. Otherwise great job on completing the game! 😊 The character kinda reminds me of this scene from toy story 😂

Developer

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback!

This is a really cute and fun concept, obviously with more time it can be well refined. The art style is cute and I enjoy the minimalist vibe, its refreshing.  :)

My feedback is that I wish there was a better UI system. The words on the main menu are off canvas and I don't know if I finished the game or not as there are no pop-ups telling me what is happening. There is also no way of exiting the game properly.

I do not understand the scoring system, what do you mean by "dev score" ? Also, I see the score goes up constantly whether or not I clean the house and is completely unaffected by my actions. I walked around in a circle for a while and gained a pretty high score.

If these minor easy-fix issues could be solved then you have a lovely basis for a really great game!

Developer

Thank you! I defiantly want to refine the game to get it to where  I actually wanted it to be.

I don't know if I actually finished the game. I cleaned up everything I could find that was off, but the game kept going. So either there wasn't time to implement an end, or I missed something.

(Also, my time even before I started wandering around the outside of the house was like three times the dev time, so I'm apparently painfully slow.)

Some things I would have liked:

- The music is a VERY short loop, which lends to it becoming quite grating after a while. I usually find that the loop needs to be at least 1 min with some variation etc. to make it avoid that fate.

- The walk speed felt a bit slow? Bumping it up a tad would make it a bit less tedious to get around.

- I would have liked to see some more gameplay associated with cleaning stuff up. E.g. having a little minigame for each category of thing? Rather than just pressing a button.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I will defiantly look into implementing it into the game!

There's some unwritten lore here... Who lived there before? Why was it such a mess? What caused their mysterious disappearance? Does jet-fuel actually melt steel beams??

Good gaem, 5/7.

Here's my character burning the house down because of the ghosts. That place was a mess and they wanted marshmallows.

Thank you XD

Good implementation! adding a sprint feature would be cool for this game :)

Developer

Thank you man! I will definitely think about adding that to future versions :)
