Interesting game with a really nice art style and general mechanics. You can see different ideas were set up here like the dialogue, email mechanics and the fetch quests.
Despite the female character dialogue there were some funny parts in the game.
Thanks for the feedback Keshy!
As other commentators have also raised, I think the characterization of the only female character in the office, which is clearly a hostile work environment for her, felt off. The fact that sexual harassment formed a big part of the story, but wasn't sufficiently addressed by the player character or the narrative felt like a missed opportunity.
Hi! Sorry about that Natalie. The absolute last thing I wanted to do was adversely affect anyoneās gameplay experience.
As Iāve already said in my other replies, I deeply apologize. Iām glad that I was able to learn from this experience. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks so much.
I appreciate the reply. And I can understand how hard it is to get this kind of feedback. Thanks for being willing to listen ā„ļø
I loved how important I felt because the typing happens so quickly, and Iām just like - Timmy Iāll be there for you!. One one email left I get and… suspense. What next?
i wasnāt a huge fan of the simplification of the character Sandra. It kind of feels like making fun of the emotional nature of women in the workplace through her reaction- I totally get that may not have been your intention but the charm of the game dissipated a little for me after that. Maybe because Iāve had experiences where Iāve felt like I was seen that way.
Maybe my style of gaming is different but I kind of enjoyed the emails more than the mini quests - I was kind of hoping it would evolve somehow - but I know some other people enjoyed the mini quests better.
Thanks so much for playing!
It definitely wasnāt my intention and I deeply apologize. I had no idea just how offensive it could potentially be to other players until I started receiving more feedback. I think Iāve learnt that playtesting with a larger variety of players and asking for more opinions is so so important before submission.
I really appreciate the well written feedback Charcoalx! Thanks so much for playing.
Little Timmy broke the 4th wall! Great little narrative game, and good music/audio.
I would however like to invoice you for the 4 keys I wore out going through the e-mails.
1/3.5 Dinosaurs for the jam theme, all the key presses was way too much work.
Thanks Tiny Ant! Appreciate the feedback āŗ.
This was a cute game. It wasn't immediately clear whether I had a time limit, and if I hadn't clicked the question mark, I might not have talked to the NPCs. (Loved the cat, by the way!)
The email text was amusing at times, though I was expecting it to require me to input choices. Specifically because the question at the start about Timmy's recital start time implied that it was a mechanic of remembering what people told you. But perhaps that was just a victim of limited time?
I liked that there were sort of "fetch quest" type stuff where you had to do one thing to get another thing to solve your problem. More of those would have been cool, and I also would have liked to see some kind of small challenge associated with each task.
But anyway, overall, a cool entry!
Initially I was kinda leaning into expanding the email system only to find out later that the mini quests in the office were actually so much more fun. Especially the one with Frank. I wish I realized it earlier so I couldāve added more characters and interactions. Thanks Jaco! I really appreciate the feedback āŗ.
A very cool little game, the music and art style are amazing also enjoy the general feel of the game mechanics
Thanks Unicorn!!
Awweee man, this game was too cute! The dialogue, the art style... well done! My fingers actually started cramping from typing all those emails :P
Awww thanks Donderbos!
The only issue I picked up was that when you start dialogue with the computer repair character (particularly when he asks the player if they play LoL) some of the dialogue pop-up images are of the boss instead of the red guy (apologies, I'm bad at remembering names). However, the style and mechanics of your game are amazing! The fact that you made this all by yourself in such a short time frame is really impressive and commendable! The sprites are adorable and the movement is smooth. This is utterly inspiring. :)
That being said, however, in my personal opinion the narrative could use a lot of work. The writing is quite cliche and stereotypical, it is a bit cringe-worthy as it seems very try-hard and overly-exaggerated. The female narrative is borderline offensive. I appreciate and can see the type of humour you are trying to achieve but it is a bit over-done and a bit confusing. In this case, less is more. The ending is also extremely abrupt and there is no real conclusion to anything, there is a lot of loose ends. I recommend for next game jam you take on a separate narrative director to help you and you continue to specialize in coding and art which you are clearly absolutely fantastic at. :)
I hope my feedback is helpful. Overall, I am in awe of your mechanics and art!
Thanks so much! Yeah I couldnāt quite figure about that bug. It had something to with my node system and I had to leave it in the game unfortunately. I completely agree about it being offensive. That is fair feedback. I should have asked around for more perspective and opinions. As of now I updated the description with a warning. Itās a satire take on work culture.
There was an email system that was far more complex but I decided to scrap it for simplicity sake. The added complexity didnāt fit too well with the gameplay. Unfortunately the extra time spent on that led to interactions and and narrative elements that were not fully explored. Writing and narrative is definitely not my forte. I learnt that humor is quite a challenge in games due to its subjective nature. I appreciate your well written feedback! Thanks so much C_Cubed!
this was very well put together! I loved the random email topics and hilarious crude humor. This reminded me of kindergarten and has so much polished content. amazing jobš poor Sandraš tho.
Thanks so much Marnus!
