This is fun, but not really "So bad it's good" I enjoyed it, but it doesn't really work for this jam.
Thankyou so much
I don't really know whether this game was a great fit for the jam. It feels like a lot of them mobile-type games which are kinda mindless fun, the physics and gameplay seem to work adequately, and the first few levels are quite fun. However, it's not 'So bad it's good'. It's just pretty good.
As it gets on, I think there's a bit of a flaw with the design of the game. The physics are somewhat inconsistent. This means that even if you do the exact right moves, there is sometimes just a very short frame gap in order to get a jump right. Especially in the level with the see-saw balls that bounced your ball up. This meant that I often failed the level, despite getting the moves pretty much exactly right. It was likely a deliberate decision, but I think just having a bit more leniency with the timings would make the game a more thoughtful, and less stressful experience.
Anyway, thanks for taking part in the jam!
Thankyou so much for the feedback and basically I want to make you know that this was one of the first game of mine(basically 4rth game). I am beginner and it is my effort to tart with. but still I am happy that you actually played it. Thanks Again.
This has been really well put together and packs a nice challenge! Good job!
I actually found this game very fun to play! I didn't find much bad about it. The mechanic works well and having to use it in different ways had a nice puzzle character of sorts.
The only real problems I had with the game were being unable to actually press play the first time (I think it might have been because I alt-tabbed before I did it), the game being extremely loud, and a softlock in ... level 2 I think: https://prnt.sc/p4xlnk
None of those were too bad. It was a fun experience, well done!
Thankyou so much for playing it, and in level 2 you have to immediately remove the orange cube
Oh yeah, I did beat the game after restarting it! It was fun! Just thought I'd let you know that it can softlock in that particular case (unless there's something I missed)
Thankyou so much for playing it
I think this is the start of a good game, but it's the very opposite of what I think of when I think "so bad it's good". It's neither good enough nor bad enough, if that makes any sense.
This falls firmly into what I've been calling the "mediocrity gap". In the immortal words of Anatoly Dyatlov: not great, not terrible. It's not awful enough to be hilarious and sporkable, but it's not good enough to be a truly good game.
The core gameplay is solid. A physics puzzler where you remove blocks to guide the ball into the goal. Simple but fun, and well-paced with new elements added in to keep the experience interesting. I'd be surprised if this hasn't been done before, but this is the first time I've played that type of game so it was fun and fresh to me.
I really did find myself missing quality-of-life features though. Things like pause, quick redo, being able to pan around the level. And the music was a bit loud and harsh.
In general it feels like an earnest attempt at a game that just needs polish. The fundamentals are there, it just needs things like aforementioned quality of life features, menus, some sound and graphical tweaks, that sort of thing.
As for the modifier, it very much feels like a casual mobile game. It's coherent and well done in that way, but as you've said, not retro.
Thankyou soooooo much for reviewing my game and giving a great feedback. basically I am a beginner and this game is one of my tries in making something fun. I will surely add UI features in upcoming games. Thank you for playing it.
The concept is solid and the core gameplay works. It just needs some polish, which can be time consuming but the difficult part is done I think.
