Slow steering and driving, terrible physics and elevator jazz. 10/10 best game!
Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad I achieved what I set out to do
Well I made it to about 4 packages delivered and about 6 deaths before I called it quits.
As I already mentioned in the discord, the file size is HUGE, which is a big detriment, but also the performance in game is terrible. The first thing I'd recommend is to disable all the default post-processing effects, I never like the default Unreal stuff to begin with but they just cause games to chug.
Beyond that, imo there really shouldn't be a death state for bumping the side of the road. Getting knocked around should be part of the fun of driving around a janky physics vehicle. Combined with what I found to be rather poor handling on the car and the low framerate made getting around tricky, but not really fun. Since there's already a time limit, I think THAT should be the only cause of losing for this game.
I did like the look of the town and the chill music in the background though.
I know this game had a short develpoment but I would strongly recommend looking into optimizing Unreal 5 games and making a shorter/easier entry next year.
Congrats on submitting!
Thank you very much for your feedback, I will prepare myself better for next year.
My first try, I didn't even make it out of the starting crescent before being confronted with a quite rude game over screen. Trying to turn around with wonky physics and a horrible camera angle was... an experience. I did a little better the second time, made it up a hill with extremely wonky physics, and managed to deliver a few more packages. I ran into the side of a hill and got a game over, but I don't think I would have stuck it out for thirty packages, because I was already getting sick of it by that point.
This game really does sit on that knife edge of so bad it's good versus so bad it's terrible. The graphics can work, and so can some of the janky physics and the awkward camera angle, but I'm really not a fan of how punishing it is, and with thirty packages to deliver I think the joke is going to go on too long for just about anyone. It would be better if it were a bit easier, a bit weirder, and shorter.
I'm pretty lenient about optimization, especially in a short jam, but this game is nearly 6GB, which is absurdly large for a game with lowpoly graphics and a single music track.
I'm aware that I couldn't make the game as I expected, I did my best, but this game jam only lasted for the last 2 days, so I didn't have time to optimize it. I originally dreamed of making the game infinite, but when I couldn't do that, I decided to turn the game into a long game. Thank you very much for your feedback.
Wacky collision on bridge sent me flying. Just a normal time on a highway if you ask me.
I am aware of the bug you mentioned, I have fixed it and will bring an update very soon
Fun game! Liked the jazz, and it was quite fun driving about. Possibly one of the weightiest feeling vehicles I've driven in a game! Managed to get 21/30 but made a wrong turn and went back to the start )-;
I'm not quite sure why the file size of the game is 5.4GB? It seems slightly off for a game like this (Though maybe there's a good reason for it!)
Thanks for playing the game and thanks for the feedback
