Thank you so much, glad you liked it!

This game is too hard in my opinion, I've got at 120 at most :(, but as I can see others get to much higher scores, so probably I'm just bad. Also the art is just SPECTACULAR, it is sad I have seen some viruses only in screenshots :( Also teleport mechanic feels a bit forced. Still a spectacular art

Developer

Thanks for playing the game, glad you like my doodley art! Sorry you didn't get to see all of them, I agree it is quite a hard game so I could probably do with tuning it a little more.

Thanks for your candidness regarding the teleporting mechanic as well - you're right it doesn't totally fit the theme, which is mostly down to me adding the theme after making the core gameplay. Will have a think about how I can make it feel more natural.

Challenging game to be sure! I died many times to first or second virus coming to my way. Once I got used to controls I got 230 pts. I guess I'll just wear a mask.

A few suggestions: have teleporting on easier key, enter is a bit far from both space and arrow keys (I guess it's ok if playing with WASD controls, but then right hand's sole job is to press enter). Also menus are mouse only whereas game is keyboard only - minor issue, but with short run times it adds up.

Sounds are very cute :)

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and for your feedback!

I did initially program with A/D in mind so the right hand doesn't have a lot to do, but this feedback has come up quite a lot so I think definitely could do with revising the control scheme. Good point on the menu too, I hadn't considered that.

Glad you enjoy the sounds, always have a lot of fun with them!

Fun Game, The Sounds are well choosen. The Graphics are really well done!

But Theme wise mhh the Teleport doesnt make any sense or has an real effect in the Game out of maybe saving you from bad Situations.

A Parallax Background would be interesting in the Game and give it a nice Touch i guess.

Overall good Work!

Developer

Nice score, glad you enjoy the game!

Thanks for the feedback, I agree the teleporting doesn't make a lot of realistic sense - I actually came up with the theme after I'd already come up with the core gameplay so it was sort of a separate consideration. Little hint regarding the teleport, it actually slows down the enemies and the enemy spawn rate temporarily. It's not explicitly mentioned in the game which makes it a little hidden, but it's hopefully the sort of thing a player would learn over time.

Will certainly look into a parallax as I haven't implemented one before - thanks for the suggestion.

Good shooter with a good use of teleport, making you feel in a way of progression and always changing, I think this game would benefit a lot from a level based, but i get it score based because of the jam.

The art is very good and colorfull, happy overall, and the sounds fit perfectly the rest of the game.

Overall, a very polish game, congrats!

Developer

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the game! I like the idea of making some levels with different styles for this game, I might look into that once the jam is over - thank you for your feedback :)

I like the Art style and the game itself is very interesting.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

I love the sound design here. The viruses are delightfully obnoxious in a way that makes exploding them extra satisfying, and that popping noise with each shot gives each projectile a "weight" when you shoot them towards approaching organisms.

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I always enjoy doing the sound design - believe it or not I did it all with my voice and Audacity ;)

I liked this entirely accurate and educational vaccine simulator ;) Super cute doodles, and I like how they wiggle. It was nice to have the teleport as an "oh no!" option. The shooting felt like it could have had a bit more juice--maybe firing multiple particles or bigger ones. Very nice!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it - of course several doctors were consulted in order to get the most accurate portrayal ;)

Thank you for the feedback regarding the shooting, will certainly take that on board!

Nice idea of the vaccine teleporting all over the body. And the sound effects are super funny.

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Always have a lot of fun recording these sounds.

I'm absolutely in love with how adorable this is. I wish vaccines actually worked like this... just smol needle boi spinning and teleporting inside your body as he shoots viruses away xD

Gameplay is super smooth (and fun!) and I love how the teleport mechanic almost works like a super attack. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe change the teleport control to "left shift" so people can play with one hand :)

Great work!

Thanks so much for the kind feedback, I really appreciate it and I'm really glad you enjoy the game! I'm honestly not sure how I ended up with this theme, but here we are!

Thanks for the feedback regarding controls, I hadn't considered that. I might try to give a couple of options so people have the choice in future versions, or allow rebinding (although that sounds a lot scarier to implement!)

Good game. Only thing wrong is that there is no high score.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hey, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I unfortunately ran out of time before I could implement this :(

Even though the jam is now over I reckon I will still work to try and add a leaderboard for when the voting is all finished.

For now you should be able to see your score for each run upon dying as the "Final Score".
