I love the colour palette and art. It is nice to see that someone else decided to make a balatro style game for this jam. I was able to pretty easily beat it when I realized that 1 coin was the preferable option to rerolls since flipping an extra coin is equivalent points wise to rerolling. But overall a pleasant looking game that gives me a similar dopamine boost that stuff like balatro does when I see big number at the end of the game.
The game looks really nice. I really like the sort of horror vibe here but I am a bit confused on what is happening. Not sure if I am just rolling badly or something but it seems to cut to black after flipping the coin twice the first time causing the fox to deform into a strange monster and the second just causing it to cut to black.
A very cool game with an interesting gameplay loop. The art is really good as well as the music. I especially love the art of John Fox holding a "certified cool" card to let us know that he is in fact a very cool and righteous dude. It all just has a very fun energy to it. The laser is also immensely satisfying to use immediately causing anything in front of John Fox himself to detonate for standing in their way.
Also the full name in the ratings page extended past the browser for me since I am on a laptop which automatically elevates the game in my mind.
Really creative puzzle platformer with great level design. It was so much fun having to think ahead of time so that I could try and account for the future iterations. Very similar mechanic to my game as well where you swap between the player and enemies. I wish I could select a previous iteration however without restarting the whole level though. Nevermind you could. Overall a very cleverly made and designed game.
The art and animation in this is really really good the animations feel satisfying and smooth and the pixel art is really good especially in how you represent the controls with a notebook that has all these details in it as well as the different death cards. However the controls feel a bit strange at times and my character seemingly doesn't respond to my input sometimes. So while that part could use some improvement the pixel art and animation is overall really good and probably some of the best I've seen come out of a game jam.
I am glad you like the concept and presentation. And I do see how repeating the intro could get grating after a bit. It was initially for the sake of this explanation I had in my head for how the system works but I didn't consider how that would feel from a gameplay perspective. I do plan on creating a post jam version with slight tweaks to how everything works.
As for the part with the numbers yeah that was completely on me. It did originally allow for you to use numbers but for whatever reason I removed that functionality. I honestly don't remember what my reasoning at the time for it was lol.
Love the low poly style especially the opening animation of the coffin opening. I did run into a bug where all the enemies were dead but for some reason I didn't advance and was stuck fighting against seemingly invisible enemies.
But otherwise a game with a nice style and very easy to understand mechanics
Love the artstyle used in this game and has puzzles very simple rules however the level design makes it difficult. A lot of the time when playing puzzle games I think to myself "How on Earth did they expect me to figure that out" but not once did I think that while playing this so I would say it's very fair and difficult which is a very hard balance to get when making a puzzle game.
I could definitely see this game being expanded further I absolutely love everything about the aesthetic it fits so well with the gameplay of interpreting the will of the gods through runes. My only real gripe is that I don't understand what the board symbols mean that much so an explanation would be so useful. But other than that one gripe the game is just perfection for me personally would absolutely love to play an expanded version with more clients and maybe an explanation for what the board means but not too obvious so the gods could stay mysterious in their messages which I understand would be super difficult to balance out especially since everyone has their own way of interpreting things. But other than that perfect visuals, perfect sound design, and just an all around impressive game ESPECIALLY since this was made in just 48 hours.
