Nice looking and promising game with great voice acting. But it's sad that bugs (not alien bugs) just hindered my experience of the game. Either from falling through solid objects and ending up in space, or by loading a save file from which the character was previously dead on the floor, so I load up... dead. Also couldn't tell what decreases my health, which might be confusing for the player. I only made it to the Engine room. I have re-launched the game 4 times before I decided to move on. So the highlights for me were the Story, Cutscenes and Visuals.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! The game was meant to have a respawn feature which would not really require you to save/load however as you can see its not working properly although it works fine in the unity editor -_- Anyways I'll try and push out a fix for it as soon as I can. I had built an objectives GUI but never got to finish it in terms of displaying to the player what the current goal is so its more obvious what to do! But this is all great feedback thanks a lot!

Surprising amount of content for a jam game!  I ran into a few bugs that kept me from finishing, unfortunately.  I will upload a youtube video soon to show my experience with it!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! You were so close to the end!! Ill try and send you a clip of the end cutscene just for closure! I will need to cleanup some of those issues in another build. Technically the player should respawn on death which works fine in the Unity editor but not in the build go figure.. Anyways thanks again for the play :)

I checked this out on my laptop just now! It looks stunning :D Really enjoyed the intro cutscene :3 I need to come back to it later today on my PC cos my laptop just sucks, and I have too much light reflection on my screen at the moment, so I will play through properly + rate when I get a chance to use my PC at night!

Developer(+1)

Haha sounds good! Hope you like it :)

I finally had a chance to play this properly on my PC :3

Sadly, I didn't manage to finish it because I encountered a bug after dying, and reloading my save only bugged it more :( I would have just restarted from the beginning, but I'd already got quite far in, and it's almost 4am here, so I'm too tired to start over x3 A lot of effort must have gone into this though :3 I don't know how far off of finishing it I was, but there sure was a lot of content!

As I said earlier, it looks great aesthetically :3 It sounds great too with the voice acting and the atmospheric SFX! Exploring was definitely unnerving + I was intrigued to find out what was going on there.

I don't know if my description of where I got bugged will be of much help, but I'll try to describe where I was. It was a section where there was a hologram in the middle of the room, and an alarm began blaring. I was slowly losing health + starting to hear some rather creepy voices, haha. I spent too much time wandering around looking in different rooms, and so by the time I realised I was supposed to be turning the valves in order to proceed, it was too late for me, haha. When I died, it told me that I died, then sort of auto-reloaded me back at the start of that level with full health, only the door to the inner room wouldn't open. I tried reloading from the save I had made when I first got to that floor, but the door still wouldn't open for me. Next I tried closing the game and opening it again. I started a new game, skipped the intro, then reloaded the save from before. It loaded me in the right place where I made the save, and I was able to control the character + get through the door that was previously stuck, but instead, the camera wouldn't budge from the elevator where it loaded in, which meant I couldn't see where I was sending the character off to.

Please don't think that encountering that has made it any less fun to play through though :3 Cos everything I saw up to that point was great! I will definitely give it another go when I'm less tired.

Thanks so much for taking the time to play the game and sharing all this great feedback! The game was meant to have a respawn feature which would not really require you to save/load however it seems like its not working properly although it works fine in the unity editor :( I'll try and figure out what's going on with that and push out a fix for it as soon as I can! I guess in the real world there would have been a lot more play testing! Thanks again for playing and let me know if you don't finish the game. I could at the very least send you the end cutscene for closure :D

Thanks for making it :D It's easy to see that a lot of love went into it!

Ahh, that makes sense as to why it respawned me after I died then. That sucks that it's not working properly for you >.< I really hate it when that happens with stuff I'm making! Tyrano allows me to preview what I'm working on, and stuff can look absolutely fine, all as it should. Then when I actually test the exported build, a sprite will randomly be facing the wrong direction, so I go back and double-check the preview and find it's fine there. So I'm just like, whyyyyyyy?! What the heck is causing it to randomly flip? o.O How did it move itself while being exported?! Haha.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to get much testing done when the jam has a pretty tight deadline x3

I'll probably give it one more shot as it is, if I fail, I'll wait and see what happens with any fixes you upload, and if I still manage to fail, then I'll cheat and ask ya for that cutscene, haha. Cos I would like to know how it all ends :3

Great job on the level design and character control (standalone version) - I wasn't sure what was doing damage to me but I could certainly hear it. Ran into a bug where I went back into the Engine Room after completing the area (Objective was to reach Level 2 at this point) and I wasn't able to exit as the big door remained closed.

Awesome game jam submission!

Thanks a lot for playing the game and the feedback! Did you turn the lights on?  I'll take a quick look and see if the logic is busted. Will try and push out a fix I can identify the problem!

Developer

I made a bug fix for that! Hope you give it another go :)

This game feels like a dead space spin off and scared the sh*t out of me. It is also impressive that you squeezed that into a web application. Really nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game and the kind words! Yeah the character does give off a dead space vibe for sure! I'm glad you liked it. Honestly scared myself too as I play tested it since I forgot the locations for some of the jump scares :p

The game is really beautiful! The atmosphere is perfect, I felt very alone on this ship!

Overall very nice work!

Developer

Thanks!

Very impressive, looking. Constant crackling is a bit annoying though. And mouse control doesn't work very well in browser version. Great game though.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and feedback! Was it crackling throughout the game? Let me known and I can take a look!

Submitted

sorry I didn't mean like broken crackling, I meant like the constant sound that happens. I think it's mean to be breathing or something like that maybe? I mean I can see that type of thing adding to the atmosphere so don't necessarily get rid of it, maybe just refine it for future versions?

Developer

Ah ok! The breathing was intended to identify danger. Maybe we can look at a different sound in the future

i died in the comms room corridor for no reason and could keep... well, bouncing ? around as a corpse :D

Extra points to sound design for aussie accent :D

Developer (1 edit)

Bouncing corpses are part of the horror :p Going into dark places should be done with caution :p I'm glad you liked the voice acting :) Thanks for playing the game and the feedback!

I feel like I am personally immune to darkness in video games, it didnt seem dark to me :D But that makes sense, i wondered why the red stuff kept appearing, my character didnt seem to care :D

Great production value. I also couldn't figure out what to do in the beginning.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game! Yeah I didn't have time to finish the objectives UI to always display but I was hoping it might be a little intuitive. In any case I'll make some changes after the Jam to add that to the game!

Submitted

Game looks amazing!! I couldn't figure out what to do in the first part of the game so i quit out :( Perhaps give some hints to the player as to where to go when starting? Or provide audio feedback from the character as to where the player should go? I also really liked the way the intro cutscene looked, but I thought it was a little boring and detracted from the game experience

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I do have an objectives system done but didn't have time to display it all the time. Hitting "O" on the keyboard I believe will pop up the objectives menu. This is my first game and game jam so really appreciate the feedback :)
