Love the visual style, particularly the retro walls. On my first try I found the door and just noped outta there by myself. On my second try I tried to find the others. I ended up on a corn field (?) and couldn't find the door back. I got further though, found Billy and Susan, but the monster killed us all. I did manage to escape it several times though. I like how you avoided jump scares, my ears thank you especially. The creature doesn't look that scary, but the sounds when it opens its eyes and kills you are cool.
Thanks so much for playing and for the detailed feedback.
I struggled a bit with the monster design and ended up just going back to an old design. I'm glad the eyes and SFX worked well though and that you mentioned the lack of jump scares. I really wanted to avoid cheap scares and wanted to go with a sense of un-ease instead.
Really great game. I like the mechanics of calling friends and the idea that our goal is not just to leave this place, but to save our friends.
Thank you for playing and for the kind words!
Nice game. Interesting monsters and a mechanic of trying to save all your friends that really push you to come back to do better! I love the 2.5D style of the game.
Thank you! :)
i love the effect for the creature, the sound of it opening it's eyes and the eye effect were both great. i also really liked the little polish of placing candles beside a lot of the doors. every run i did ended in running into the creature in an unavoidable way, where he would be covering the only exit. there were usually 2 paths that lead to a single place and he would be standing there. i tried turning my light off and running but he would still get me. i think it's really polished though, really great atmosphere and consistent art. great entry!
Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback!
I added the candles at the last minute as it was so easy to get turned around while exploring.
The monster is a bit relentless and might need some balancing. Sounds like you got quite unlucky though as it does randomly move around the level and shouldn't stay in one place for long.
