Finally played the bug-fixed version, and seeing the protagonist’s mysterious ex-comrade turn up again at the end was interesting.

I also liked the reference to one of the songs in the last but one client.

Thanks for coming back to play the last little bit! They're hopefully intriguing as at least a plot hook!

Okay this is cool. I admit it took me a bit to realise what I was meant to be doing, but the disorientation does work on another level, combining with the format and style to really plunge you into another reality. It does just feel really cool to play and I look forward to more!

Thanks for playing! first day on the job jitters.

Super glad I persevered with refreshing the online mac system and got this to work! I loved the in-depth world you've created & the graphics really complimented the vibes. I was a bit surprised when it ended so abruptly but am very much looking forward to trying the full game in the future & maybe getting to stare at the sun ?!

Developer

Thanks for playing! The abrupt - hopefully cliffhanger! - ending was definitely a "I gotta wrap this up and get this submitted" thing.

I'm really glad the worldbuilding feels good. It's definitely a comfort zone for me, hopefuly not too much to the detriment of other things.

You're going to have to help me out. I using a new Mac and have tried all of the various downloads but nothing works.

What is the best way to get this to run on a new Mac?

Thanks for asking. There's a browser-based version linked at https://ferkung.itch.io/stare-directly-at-the-sun/devlog/876716/web-hosted-versi.. It can be a little janky, a refresh seems to clear up most sins.

This version includes both the application and hypercard versions -- there is no difference, i just load both files. It may be behind one of the stickies on the desktop.

Ok. That was cool. Thank you for the fun memory of using an old Mac!

Very good, it does get stuck in a loop in the end with the Zuut character, but I presume that's because it's a prototype and there's nothing beyond that?

Developer(+1)

Ack! It should not! there is a the-end screen.

I will check it out! Thank you for the report!

if it makes a difference, I was running it using Sheepshaver,  not Basilisk or vMac

Developer(+2)

It shouldn't :) caught the issue (don't code at 2:30am, folks!)

New versions should be up.

Thanks so much for checking it out and letting me know about the issue!
