Controls were a bit hard to deal with but overall a nice game. Shadow effects were pretty cool, the art style does a bit to soften what is going on.
Interesting start for a grim zero-sum survival game. There doesn't seem to be much of a goal besides not starve, and in order to feed yourself it may be necessary to assault strangers and sell them as slaves to buy food. I couldn't figure out if there was much else to the game besides that and fucking and being fucked by strangers. I hear some people are concerned about games with non-con as a theme, but the way I see it, part of the appeal of non-con is that it feels wrong, and the fact that it feels wrong is an implicit confirmation-by-contrast of the rightness of consent in real life. This is probably too nuanced for people who prefer black-and-white thinking though.
But back to the game. The characters are good looking and pretty well animated, and I'm always a fan of character customization/randomization. The movement has a lot of inertia, which felt weird when I was just wandering around, but once I was chasing or being chased it made a whole lot more sense; it makes the chases more dynamic without making them too fast. I could see this game occupying more of my time if it felt like I had more direction.
I really like how much the dynamic shadows add to the appropriately gloomy atmosphere! Some music, ambient noises, and sound effects could accentuate it further. The animations are nice and the art style is cute enough to make the world seem dark and cartoony rather than brutish. I also like the clean interface design and font choices.
An ability to keep better track of the town's location is essential for the core gameplay. The current best strategy seems to be to get captured so you know where to go and then only to move in cardinal directions from the town's locations. There needs to be something aspirational for players to work towards. Buying food to refill the hunger meter is good as a base, but there should be something beyond that. Inedible items that are actually worth selling could be a good alternative for pacifist players, since the current ones are simply better to eat immediately. I like that the world constantly repopulates with new stuff, but it may be more immersive to do that out of the player's vision, and having specific spawn locations to offer more reason to find new hunting grounds.
The controls feel good and the charging battles are fun. There' s a bug where getting hit while carrying something can send you flying across the map. I don't mind that there's lots of button mashing needed to get away since the towns are so far, but a meter to show how much progress you've made may be a good addition. Maybe the mashing can be a timing thing for when the person carrying you is distracted instead? I like the different personalities of the people you meet, but they don't always stay consistent with what they seem to want to do.
The world could use a bit more density, but it's got a very good foundation. A neat concept for a survival game!
An interesting premise, and a lot of work was clearly put into making this! I like the atmosphere, and this can definitely turn into a great game with more polish.
A solid base for an interesting game. The premise definitely appeals to kinks far beyond the usual. The visuals are pretty and really well made, and the character customization is a wonderful touch for this type of experience. Chasing other critters around was an interesting challenge due to the bushes slowing you and others down, they can be a run ender or a super useful asset depending on how well you can take advantage of them.
I wasn't sure if there was an audio issue on my end or if it was set up to be a very low volume or if the game really is 100% silent, but I haven't had any sound issues with other entires so I am to assume the latter (please do correct me if I'm wrong!).
As for balancing, it's a bit bothersome how NPCs can go off screen since you can't, and NPCs in general tend to have a strong bias towards capturing the player if you end up in a 3+ tackling situation. You can also easily spend ages getting used if you happen to tackle something just within the edge of town. I do wish there was some indication as to the town's location since right now the only way to tell is by getting picked up and seeing generally which direction you are taken in, but maybe that's part of the design.
Otherwise, this is a great proof of concept! I'd love to see a game with this premise getting some more breathing room to develop into a larger project, specially with such well polished art and following through with the more taboo kinks out there.
cute art style, really hard to catch up with anything if it's already running away, I'm not sure if it's possible, but it's not supposed to be an easy world i suppose :P an interesting concept, reminds me a little bit of kenshi
Pretty neat with nice art. Since the goal seems to just try to survive, it'd be nice to have a score at the end that shows how long you survived.
i think its great, but could really use a map/minimap and a zoom feature.
Pretty empty and lacking, but could absolutely be expanded into something greater. The sprites and animations are pretty nice but the environment is very repetitive, more variants for trees and bushes would help.
Seems like it could be good if expanded upon, but as is, was just very empty and lacking things to do
Very impressive and quite fun when something was encountered. Although the space was quite empty so I spent most of my time playing just running around trying to find something. It would be cool top see what more gets brought to this though. ~
Shame I can't rate for the jam submission, 'cause I didn't submit one myself. Would like to see this game more developed... After judging, apparently. lol I'm a total sub for this kind of game. >,>
Game was kinda empty, struggled to find towns. Cool characters and artstyle though
The art direction on this was really lovely, and I love that you can customize your character!!
The world feels a bit empty, and sometimes it can be hard to find where other anthros or towns are.
Other then that I really enjoyed this one!
