How did you choose to implement the Theme: Thirst for Blood in your game?
There's a vampire that drains your blood. There's also another monster hunting you in the dark trying to kill you.
Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
There's a vampire, and blood is a part of the game in some way. Blood can be drained and if you lose all your blood, you die but I'm not sure if that counts as life drain.

Repeating the same sequence again after dying certainly took away from the experience, but for a solo dev it's not that bad. The writing is fine but the gameplay needs to be tighter/more clear to the players as while it can be considered straight forward, not everyone's played this kind of thing and so instructions help. Some play testing could have pointed out these issues, which is why I'd recommend having friends look at the game first so they can make these kind of comments since as a solo dev you might be blind to things you think are fine while they're not.
i don't have friends that's why i'm a solo dev lol
Cool concept explained well in game. Can see the foundations of a tried and tested jump scare game.
Monster actually scared me :) I like the super dark mood. Someone already mentioned the possibility to skip the intro to go straight to the game on the second run. Anyway kudos for completing the game.
Yea I saw that I just replied if you wanna read, though it's like an essay. Thanks for the complements.
It's nice to have voice over in games. With the way this game was structured I really wished it was skippable though. I am forced to listen to it all over again when I die. Gameplay was not obvious to me and I really feel like it was not working as intended. The vampire inclusion felt a bit contrived. Despite that, I'm glad to see that someone attempted a FNAF type of game this time.
Sorry for the essay here, have a lot to say (nothing you said was wrong nor mean and I am in no way taking offense to it nor trying to defend my decisions in any way, just trying to explain things):
I would change some things to be more polished if I updated this later like skipping the intro and a replay button. And I did test, everything does work as intended. my games rarely have "bugs" and if it does it doesn't usually break the game (not to say that I'm perfect or anything, my games aren't that good in the first place). I just added stupid things to make it "harder" but in retrospect (lmao it was obvious) it wasn't the best idea. I probably should've realized that from the beginning though. that was the biggest mistake in this game and I would change it in a heartbeat upon updating this game after the jam, if I do of course. And for anyone else reading this, that's what's wrong with the gameplay. Idk if I can update during the jam but I would fix it if I could, and even if I could I already lost ratings over it.
Oh yea and then the problem of people not even understanding the gameplay in the first place. it's pretty straight forward, that's why I added the hints.
Then the vampire inclusion being "a bit contrived" is 100% true. this was NOT my original idea of what to make. Though I'm not sure what I wanted to make was exactly "better". it does 100% work into the universe though. There's even lore about it, though it's not fully defined.
Five nights freaks me out to suffice to say i found this terrifying XD I kept dying.
Per my son, "The horror wasn't really good. You really did follow the theme. Creativity was nice. You only get 4 stars for gameplay because we were barely listening."
Agreed that the writing is entertaining here but also struggling a bit to understand the gameplay. Neat concept though, nice work especially if this was solo!
Props for the writing!
The concept is pretty solid and the writing has a nice bit of humor to it, but the gameplay is a bit hard to grasp. I can't tell if I'm dying because the timer runs out, or if I did something wrong. There is also no way to restart the game without refreshing the page due to no button or menu option, making replaying a bit hard. I think the writing is actually the best element here, as the dialogue made me laugh a little when first starting up the game. I believe the writer could make some really good horror parody/comedy stuff if they had more room to write, as their gameplay basics are solid and could support such well.
I do like the simple gameplay elements of flashlight, buttons, and listening though, and it's notable that this was done by what appears to be a solo dev so that's really cool!
Thanks so much for the feedback. I don't get that often so this helps. When you die, it's intended that it waits a little bit before you actually get jump scared and loose, to throw you off. I was just experimenting with new ideas so this one probably wasn't the greatest. Honestly I dunno what I was thinking. The no replay button was definitely an oversight of mine. If I were to update the game I would probably add one now. And yes, I'm a single dev and did all the work myself. I'm glad you enjoyed the jokes. Anyways thanks for the suggestions and good luck in the jam.
