This was an absolute blast to play, but I encountered a game-breaking bug when entering the elevator with the yellow buttons. It went through the ground when I pressed down, and phased me out of it instead of taking me with it. Otherwise, this is such a unique concept and was pretty creepy and fun! There was a lot of charm in the mechanics to get blood, and some serious thought needed to be done in order to properly progress in the game. Solid work, I really enjoyed it!
Pretty solid game with gorgeous graphics and fun gameplay, the fact there are no "end of demo" flags or warnings makes playing this a bit tedious but it was still a blast to explore! There's a bit of spookiness in the game, but it doesn't quite read as horror to me with what's currently in it. The dark fantasy elements still make it readable enough though, and ultimately this is a really awesome demo!
Update on the sound thing: After starting another game and not having sound, I tested a youtube video and it told me my sound rendering was messed up and needed a restart, so it definitely was a technical issue on my end and not the game. My apologies for that part though, but I appreciate you responding and going in-depth about all my points! I do agree though, there's so many cool stories and creatures out there, I always love learning about more.
This is such a beautifully made game, I really adore the art style and the gameplay was pretty solid! It seemed like the creature on the far right of the screen was far more difficult to get than the other two, but other than the sudden skill leap the game had a nice flow to it. I also enjoyed the way you all looped the game back in on itself to encourage a perfect score, and the dialogue was very well done. All in all, a solid platformer with a gorgeous vibe and nice soundtrack!
Honestly loved the vibe here, it really reminded me of old-school Resident Evil games and had a fun yet manageable difficulty. There were quite a few clipping issues and bugs, one of which ruined my first play-through since enemies on the top floor clipped through the door and I didn't have enough ammo to take care of downstairs necessary enemies. Even after that blunder though, I felt like it was worth it to restart and keep playing to the end. The ending bit was cool but is easily cheesed by shooting the middle lower floor guy then walking through the opening at the top of the stairway and walking along the tiny ledge above the exit door, where you only have to kill 2 or 3 of the enemies instead, but you can still get stun-locked to death by the two guys in the ending bit if you're not careful. I think if you all do another game like this, allowing a melee push or punch attack that didn't require injury first without damaging the enemy to get some distance would be helpful, as well as a running ability would be nice.
All in all, really solid though I had a blast and enjoyed the vibes! The art was also super nice, the enemies were pretty spooky but not overly terrifying. Their knife-hands really creeped me out, and how they turned red with the MC's blood was a nice detail.
The game is pretty on theme and has some nice horror elements, but there's no sound that appeared to play during my playthrough which made it feel very odd. Collecting x items and medkits was a fairly simple and workable gameplay method, but felt like it needed something else to really make it rewarding. There was a note I found about the creatures I thought was interesting, as I had never heard of these vampiric monsters before. More little lore bits could have been fun, but I didn't see any others.
The game had nice art and ran pretty smoothly, but did not appear to have a way to turn off the blur effect which made me very nauseous while playing. The game's creation is still really impressive in that it was achieved in such a short time, and it definitely had a unique twist from the unusual monster aspect.
It's a bit hard to properly rate/review this game, as it appears to be a vent piece of the creator denoting the struggles of being an indie dev. While the theme is in the game of a thirst for blood, both shown as a mosquito and how cruel critics can be, the theme feels slightly off-track though definitely still there. Some of the symbolism is a bit lost on me, such as with the vampiric character who appeared, but I still recognize enough of it to understand it's presence.
Some of the more blatant symbolism such as eventually escaping to daylight (a term referring to the creator's original trilogy series they appear to be very passionate about), creates an ominous yet hopeful feeling, especially with the plant imagery which appears to be inspired by the creator's current project "Aplomb The Lazy Ninja." The creator's self-depreciation shortly before this sets a sharp undercut to that hope, creating a very tense optimism balancing on an edge that I personally resonate with.
This game is definitely a memorable one I will likely think back on months from now. It's very distinctly a psychological horror game but in a very unusual and surreal way. The visceral depictions of the creator in their frustrations, and their desperation to be heard through their drawings and dialogues, everything really hits you hard emotionally and the ominous soundtrack sets the tone very well.
There is something deeply haunting about this game, despite the mechanical quirks and simplistic art. I hope the creator found respite in the creation of this game, as that tense hope is something I relate to personally. I don't believe this game is for everyone for a lot of reasons, but for people who have felt dejected in their artistic pursuits, I believe this may be a cathartic and raw expression that may bring comfort in knowing they're not alone.
A really spooky game with solid art and gameplay, but a rather hard difficulty level. The blood transfusion and puzzle-solving elements are really cool, especially with harvesting from the weird growths, but it was easy to get stuck by 2 of the crawling critters and be cornered somewhere. The sound design was also too quiet ambiance with too loud injury sfx, but it functioned well enough to let players know what was occurring. I really enjoyed the creepy vibe though, and the chasing/hiding elements of this game are super interesting, I just can't get far enough into the game to revive any of the characters to finish it. I really like how unique the gameplay is on this though, it's honestly such a cool game and was produced well.
I really wanted to give this game a proper review, however, I encountered two game-breaking bugs making such actually impossible. A non bug issue to also be mentioned was the lack of UI elements and the ability to turn off the motion blur was a major problemfor me, as the blur was exceptionally nauseating and I had to move very carefully to avoid it.
Still attempting to play despite that, I managed to go through the beginning item gathering but until I got the mannequin and threw blood on it in the bedroom, the mannequin would not move after hiding my eyes and the MC would just say "I need to bring the mannequin" by the doorway as if there was some sequence break occurring. Attempting to renter the basement made me go to a beige screen that I could still cover my eyes in, but was unable to move in the world anymore. I attempted again to reload and play the game in case it was a one-time bug, but the same bug occurred.
I really enjoy the premise of the game though, it's very beautiful and the voice-acted lines were solid. I think the writing was pretty well done, and I found the maze-like pattern of the house to be very interesting. It seemed odd you could "pick a mannequin," but that was also interesting and could be a fun feature in the game. The throwing blood mechanic was fun and cool, though the blood would immediately disappear off the mannequin once I closed my eyes and appear only on the ground afterward (may be related to the bug I experienced.)
Once the bug is fixed and the UI elements/options are in place for accessibility, this game could be really fun and interesting as it has some seriously beautiful graphics and a solid premise. I hope the developers continue to have fun on this project, as it still just looks so cool!
A solid concept and decent execution, I had fun playing it and going after the townsfolk. The titlescreen's art was really solid and I liked the blood animation. In-game, there was no "left" walking animation, so it led to the vampire just moon-walking and some odd clipping from environmental layers. There was also no in-game music, and the cheery-ding being near victims felt a bit off-vibe. However, the consuming noise was very fun and creepy, making game progression satisfying. I enjoyed the general gameplay loop, and the title screen music was very nice. All in all, it's a fun arcade-style game that can be enjoyed, and I hope the developer continues to make fun projects in the future.
The concept is pretty solid and the writing has a nice bit of humor to it, but the gameplay is a bit hard to grasp. I can't tell if I'm dying because the timer runs out, or if I did something wrong. There is also no way to restart the game without refreshing the page due to no button or menu option, making replaying a bit hard. I think the writing is actually the best element here, as the dialogue made me laugh a little when first starting up the game. I believe the writer could make some really good horror parody/comedy stuff if they had more room to write, as their gameplay basics are solid and could support such well.
I do like the simple gameplay elements of flashlight, buttons, and listening though, and it's notable that this was done by what appears to be a solo dev so that's really cool!
A straightforward vampiric visual novel, with many endings from branching dialogue choices. I was actually surprised by how long some of the routes went and was particularly interested in how many moral dilemmas it offered in order to challenge the player. I do believe the mixed-media art styles took me a bit out of the game, as well as the very energetic almost futuristic music in the main gameplay area seemed off-vibe, but ultimately this was still a good job that some people will still enjoy. If the creator decides to do a sequel/spin off like they mentioned, there is a bit of world-building and lore that could be interesting to play off of. I personally preferred the more ominous bad ending routes to the neutral and happier ones, as the moral complexities tended to shine best when something bad was occurring or having of already occurred (i.e. the long neutral and bad end with Elizabeth.) I did not particularly like the bite ending though, as the automatic death in it with no option to try to stop your character was a bit dark. Credit due where credit is due though, as the author is afraid to shy away from character death and villain arcs.
It is also notable that while many of the games I've rated so far were done by teams, this one appears to have been done by a solo dev, so that's pretty cool! Keep up the good work, and have fun making games!
A really cool concept and pretty solid execution, the blood moon is very creepy and the art is both cute yet spooky. The combat mechanic didn't work as well as the drilling mechanic, so I ended up just avoiding the enemies. I think the game could have used some ambient music to make it feel more ominous and less empty (or at least some tension music for low health), as well as some additional challenges such as craters so the jumping mechanic had a use. The gathering was pretty ominous, especially on the darker side of the moon, and had some nice intrigue.
Impressive and well done, I really like the overtly dystopian hemoCorp story the creators are writing, and I like the proposed "health-to-blood system" that is mentioned for the future in the description. If more development is going to be made on this game, I recommend finding ways to make that story stuff more apparent in the game, as it's really interesting.
A short and simple arcade game with decent mechanics and a fun vibe. I think it could have used some music, but the ominous sound effects work just fine. There were some performance issues at first, but after the game had been running for a few minutes it seemed to ease up (I believe this is just how browser games just work.) Ultimately, it's a solid game with a fun and challenging premise!
This is such a cute and fun game, I had a blast making the drinks! The art is really nice and sells the vibe well, the dialogue is pretty solid and sells some fun characters while also allowing world building. Livia was also really cool looking, and I loved her story being just a rough day, but I'd like to know more about herself and not just her vampirism.
The gameplay of making different drinks is fun, and I absolutely loved Frankie's grumble in the game. Having actual proper drinks you could make (I.E. "Bloody Bloody Mary") is super cool, but didn't seem to affect the immediate ending route I got. Like with Outerlimits that I was also sad when the game ended, I could really enjoy a longer version with more customers and story development between Jackie and their old boss, as well as I just like Frankie he's so interesting and nice.
On an additional note, congrats on your first game together! It really plays well and is a blast.
I really loved playing this game, the art, music, and gameplay were an absolute delight! However, just like GuyWithTeaCup, I ended up soft locked out of late game due to being unable to end my turn without doing a move. The cards can be a bit hard to understand at first, but ultimately this was just a really fun game that actually went on a delightfully lot longer than I thought it would. I really enjoyed the skill factors into the gameplay, as well as the RNG for events outside walking around. Trading around cards was also fun, but I realized getting the higher-tier death cards was actually a huge mistake since a tier 1 death card could already block a full cat move. The blood resource mechanic was also fun, as I could farm out extra health in a battle if needed.
I genuinely had a blast though, I would love to see either a bug-fix for the soft lock or an even more fleshed-out version as it's genuinely well-made and fun, especially with the cute vampy creatures.
I enjoyed this game, and I'm very impressed by the developer's work. I do think it’s a bit too hard due to the RNG elements and strict time limits, as well as the lack of ability to end the day on a specific tile would require me to spend a day traveling. The market prices rising and falling were really cool for items, but I didn’t see any use in buying them since there were no active cues to use them or any hint of them affecting events other than being robbed. The hand-drawn art assets were cool, especially with the vampire designs and MC’s changing health.
On a mechanical note, I am really impressed by this game. It was developed in one of the shortest (if not the shortest) amounts of time in the jam, and has a lot of complicated things going on. There are battles (my most enjoyed gameplay), market rising-falling, inventory management, random events, the CYOA in the castle (another favorite aspect of the game), health and healing management, weapon values, map mobility, and time management. Further, music and art details were also included to really round out the game, and I actually really liked the music.
I think this stands on its own as a fun hardcore experience for those who like it. I believe the developers could do more with this core concept if they wished, as there's definitely some blood put into this already, but the game is solid as is.
Hello, I just wanted to verify a rule before beginning my project. Is it okay to submit anything from this jam also into another jam (assuming it meets both criteria)? I did not see any exclusivity clause on this jam's page, but also noticed there was nothing explicitly saying it was fine. Thanks for hosting this fun jam though!
