I really enjoyed this! The environment was nicely laid out, I liked the aesthetic, and the aliens actually spooked me a few times. The main issue I had was the lighting - I only had one glowstick and when it died when I got outside, I couldn't find anymore or my way back into the house (and then I fell in the pit and died). But aside from that, I really enjoyed it - good job!
I really liked this game, but I wasn't able to progress. I don't know if the game was bugged or what, but once I got the Processing Key I wasn't able to go anywhere.
There is a bug where you can open the barn without going through the garage and getting the note on how to start the car and valve first, but it doesn't impede gameplay, just confuses the objective. If you have the processing key, RMB on the correct door of the smaller building next to the barn where you picked up the key to use it. Thank you for making a video! It's gonna be a big help when I revise it for the full game.
Awesome sweet! Send me a shout when a full version pops up!
Really liked the alien in this one, I think the idea of it lighting up when it spots you and being completly dark otherwise really worked on me, you could just spot the faint outline before the alien spotted you. I also like the story concept and figuring out why the player is alone is an interesting mystery to solve. The atmosphere is also a highlight, having the dark environment with a few lights works great with the already hard to spot alien.
My main issues personnaly is the rate of how quickly the alien seemed to spawn in my playthrough, I'd lose the alien by entering the barn only for the alien to spawn in front me 10 seconds later. It made for a lot of running for a little time of puzzle solving (does not help that the alien itself is slower than the player, so it's not a treat as long as you sprint).
There was also some issues with the physics, I had an hard time leaving the house in the beginning because the chairs would not cooperate, I think simply having the ability to pick up chairs would have helped.
I don't want to sound negative :'), it's just I wanted to mention some issues that I felted really empered an amazing alien concept and atmosphere. It's a really tense game with a terrifying alien and atmosphere that got a little tonned down because I spent the majority of my playthrough holding s and shift.
Really amazing game, hope my comment does not come has a little too negative!
I completely understand, this was the most complicated game I've made so far so there are bond to be some issues. I'm glad for the feedback, it's going to help when I revise it for the full game. Thanks!
Loved the alien's design, them lighting up in the dark like that adds a nice touch. I think the beginning room might be a little too dark, it was a bit confusing figuring out the first moments of the game because I got lost in the tiny room.
Overall I think this is a solid entry, there's a lot of tension with the aliens which might get lost after a bit once the player figures out they can outrun them, but that first screech in the dark and lighting them up always brings up a good spook.
Great job!
I played your game and I have to say that you have achieved an above average job, but when I started the game, I could not understand what to do, there is a lack of instructions. It is really a great success that you compress a game made with Horor engine to 500 mb. Congratulations good day.
I liked the story, the way it was written, with tips on where to look for items for the car. Because of the darkness, the appearance of an alien is scary, but after a while you get used to it. Moreover, they cannot catch up with the player. I think it would be more interesting to play with stamina and different places where you can hide.
I agree with you, I think I was more worried about making sure the player can finish the puzzles without getting frustrated by the aliens. It definitely lacks a difficulty ramp. But for my first horror game this is great feedback. Thank you!
