My favourite part has to be the description of the submission. I read it from the perspective of some chap being overly enthusiastic about, after several years of trying, finally figuring out how to combine their two most favourite things in life. That or someone trying to make an excuse from failing to play chess with Wakasagihime, forgetting that chess pieces float around underwater.
And yes, I too find enjoyment in the pillars being chess kings.

I think that it would be something like kappas' invention - like Nitori shouting "Hey look I combined chess with fishing!!!" It would be cool.
Funny how much the fishing rod changes the game feel despite it playing exactly the same.

Sanae got a fishing rod from meiling, eh? Glad that worked out well.
Even though this is just a bullethell game in disguise i still like the hilarity of the touhous just throwing chess pieces as their bullets. Though i think this game should have some iframes when getting hit and it's really easy to lose a lot of lives from a high density of bullets.

Huh? No. Retro games are things like knuckle bones or play-fighting with sticks, right? Chess is still pretty new.
