Good game, a liked the aspect that the trees spawn wolves, and at night it means that its dangerous to get trees.

I just reviewed your game live at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission. I thought it was a good interpretation of the day night thing and gave off some Don't Starve energy.
Thank you. I was hoping you would. I found your comments useful from the Tea Jam and used then to improve in other jams. Sorry I couldn't make it to your stream again. We seem to be on opposite timezones.
But thank you for doing this, it's very helpful to watch streamers play other games and react in real time.
(Yes, the fire-tending + low visibility was inspired by Don't Starve! I used to be addicted to that game! I got it from GOG back in 2013, then they released multiplayer on Steam which prompted me to open an account there. Then I got distracted by the 10 billion other games on that platform.)
It's a shame that you couldn't reach the 3h limit, I really enjoyed your entry!
I love the sound effects, the background birds add a lot to the experience, and the wolves' damage sounds were kind of amusing (it reminded me to my friend's dog when he goes out ๐)
A very enjoyable experience, but I have some details that could raise the bar even further:
- I think that making the starting light when you place wood a little bit bigger would benefit the game (and this can be balanced making the increments add less light to compensate) ๐
- Once you get how to correctly play, the wolves aren't a menace anymore, maybe increasing the difficulty each night could make the game a more interesting experience ๐บ
- Graphics wise, I love the artstyle, but I would make the colors get darker when it is night time ๐
Thank you! I finished the base mechanics in 3 hours (spawning, interaction, etc) but it was very boring, no graphics, and the controls were confusing. I couldn't stop tweaking things and figured since going over 3 hours disqualifies me anyway, might as well make the game more playable and go waaay over time :D
You caught me about the sounds. These are labrador retriever sounds because I couldn't find open source ones with wolves LOL
- I'll take note of the lighting! Right now it's arithmetic scaling the radius based on the logs, but maybe it should be logarithmic..?
- I wanted it to have an upgrade element at the end of each cycle, and for the enemies to be stronger too, but alas... time... :(((
- Also grateful for your lighting suggestions. It would've been great if the forest turns dusky before dark.
Really cool, great entry. The combination of the shrinking fire and the dog sounds, this was terrifying! I did at one point seem to be in negative time till dark, and also there were some problems with sprites drawing over one another, but yeah I really enjoyed it!
Loved the mechanic of chopping trees and managing the fire. Really like the art style too, those trees especially! Do wish the projectile was a little easier to see tho.
Super solid submission. Would love to see this made into a full mobile game. The resource mechanic was super fun. I like that you can still chop at night if you don't have enough wood and finding random wolves in the trees was also neat.
