The game isn't working.

Developer

O is it just straight up not loading...? Thats weird.
What browser are you currently using?

Submitted

Microsoft Edge.

Developer

Huh Weird. I tried to myself and it works for Edge, sorry I'm not really sure then.
Thanks for trying to check it out anyway ha

Excellent execution on the theme and there is a nice challenging gameplay loop that keeps me coming back for me. Well done

Developer

Thank you ha!

Love the mechanics and the overall challenge

Glad you liked em!

Very clever to use the moon and the sun to make eclipses and making it a core mechanic for the theme, I like it! 馃槷

A very nice experience all around, there are some things to polish, but it is more due to the time limitations. I want to name them anyways, it's always handy to know where you can improve 馃槢

  • You can see the gray background at some point into the game, the parallax takes a little bit to respawn at the beginning
  • Another think that I saw with the parallax: there's a thin little line (about 1px) when joining the next next image together
  • Try making some gravity acceleration and deceleration for the character, making it go up and down at the same speed works, but it feels less polished and weirder

Keep at it, this is a nice game! 馃槉

Glad you like the mechanic heh!

Yeah the parallax background were really a last minute~ addition to make the game a little more interesting to stare at. Tho I never ironed out those bugs.. And defo feel that last one, a better jump is something Ill have to work on if I pick up the game again. Thanks!

Awesome this is a really cool game, I think we must have been on similar wavelengths to be honest, I almost made something really similar but without the orbiting moon to provide the shadow. I really like the eclipse mechanic and it adds some nice strategy and timing to the game. The only thing I would suggest if you work on this further is try and make the character controller a bit smoother and more satisfying. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Honestly lol! What can I say, walking around a planet is fun.

Yeah the characters movement was really shoddy, ill defo have to work on that if I pick it back up. Thanks!

This was a neat idea.  The eclipse mechanic was both theme-fitting and very clever.  When I found out I could do that, I spent most of my next several games trying to find at what places I could do it rather than timings which makes this game playable as strategic movements as well as reaction based.  It would also give reply value to it I think as you can play again and again to slowly learn how to get further using strategy (I spent the first several games running around in a panic hopping as fast as I can haha).  This would be fun to have as a mini game with several players all running from the sun, like a mario party last one standing minigame).

Glad you liked it! Yeah, really needed to add a better indication to use the eclipse to progress, seems more obscure in hindsight lol.

Really like that final idea. o.o Never saw it that way before, but can totally see this being alot more fun having a bunch of people running around tryna dodge the sun ha!

This is surprisingly geeky take on the theme with the eclipse. I didn't think of using the eclipse to reverse my run until I looked at the gifs again. It's a trick move for me, but very rewarding when you manage to cross the eclipse.

Developer

Yeah the eclipse manoeuvre is far harder than it needs to be ha. A better indication for using it also woulda helped, but glad you managed to do it tho ha!

I really liked the concept for this one! It fits the theme very creatively! The gameplay was fun too, with the sun slowly catching up as I made mistakes and having to use the eclipse to stay safe.

Developer

Glad you liked the concept!
