Great submission. There was a few softlocks, but the quick restart button made those moot. I just treated it as a death fall.

Nice game. After playing so many "least fun" games, this was a fun refreshing (pun intended) platformer. Thanks for the game. Nice work! One of my favs so far.

There are some nice touches in this submission. The music choice is good, and it gets intense at the end. I like the pixel effect when you die.

I like the audio, and it seems like the music gets a little more intense when you get hotter? or maybe just with time.

There is a little collision bug when trying to walk from a bridge to the ground tiles, but overall well done!

The second audio track is 10 bpm faster and starts once you reach a critical hotness. Good ear!

There are a few visual touches I really liked, such as the particles when collecting water or jumping, or the screen slowly tinting red as you heat up. I feel like the second level was waaaay easier than the first, so maybe the level design could use some tweaking. But I played it to the end and liked it overall. Good job!

Nice little game :). I had a weird bug with two music overlapping but when I saw the comment I replayed it and it was a way more fun experience haha. I like the heat strok mechanic.

Congrats on your submission

Thank you! I haven't used GameMaker Studio in a long time and never actually was able to make a web game in it before, so I couldn't figure out the audio bug or how to make my heat wave shader work in a web build either! Thanks for playing the downloadable version!

I want an autograph from the guy who made those gulp sound effects! He sounds soooo kewl......

Mr. Zark,

We might be able to help you, but the gulp sound effects were made by an external asset so we never know availability.

The controls and level design were really interesting. I also liked the music and sound effects, but the visuals could've used a little work. The heat stroke mechanic made the game a lot more interesting to play, and made it get pretty tense towards the end. Overall, nice submission!

Thanks a lot!

Anything specific with the visuals? If you mean how the water and fire were literally just tiles, then I get what you mean lol

love the main menu 🤣

The original plan was for a fullscreen flame to ignite the words Heat Strokin, but the Wheel of Time was spinning!
