Oh wow this game is very good like I had a lot fun playing with it! But I've found some issue that the ghost is much more slower on my laptop than for my friend's. My friend had a lot of trouble exiting while I can slowly find my way out on the first try. But still very fun game

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you ^^ happy to hear that!
Hmm, so there might be issues with the frame rate. On my computer the ghost is very close to the player all the way to the exit, but some people had said that the ghost is too slow. I need to investigate into that issue at some point, when developing new games. Thank you for your helpful feedback 。^‿^。 (edit: if it's not too much trouble, could you tell me what framerate your laptop has?)

Yeah I think it might be related to that. I know you're not using Unity, but in Unity there's like if you want consistent movement you have to * Time.deltaTime which is the time between two frames so that the speed will be consistent. Maybe there will be something similar in the engine that you use.

Yea, that's the thing that I could use, thanks! Another option could be making the enemy move towards the player every 0.1 seconds instead of every tick.

This is awesome. Art is amazing. Can I get an animation flip-flop so I can moon walk my way out to survival lol.

Developer

Hehee (⁀ᗢ⁀) Thanks for your nice comment!

Very nice but it would be nice if the ghost sometimes gets behind us to put pressure on us

Developer

Thank you! Yea,  adding another difficulty level would have been good idea :)

Well, that's horrifying! Move faster, girl! Get out of that twenty story house!

I got through it in one try. I think I would have liked to use spacebar or another key instead of clicking with the mouse. I use Construct 2 also and the corruption problem is the real monster in this story.

Developer

Hehe :D Thanks for the feedback. Based on the comments, I think I've underestimated players ability to escape from that monster. I wanted to give a  little mercy to the player if there would be some misclicks when opening doors and hatches.
But in next game, no mercy!  ( `▽´)Ψミ(/・ω・)/

That is a good idea to add another key to open doors, and I actually  tried to implement it. But it had some issues with that so I gave up because it would have taken more time to fix it. Also you can play the game with your friend. One moves the character and the other opens doors and hatches with the mouse ^^

I think you could have levels of increasing difficulty. Nothing wrong with the first level being easy as a tutorial! If the first level is too hard, especially on these game jam mini-games, I’d be more inclined to click away

Developer

True! The first house could be just one room. And as the game progressed there would be more rooms and the exit would be harder to find. And many kinds of ghosts that would move in different ways.

Cool game, I only saw the creature at the beginning. The creature is a bit too slow?

Developer

Thank you. I can't say for sure if it's too slow, it may be. My friend tried several times before getting through the game. Based on these, I could think that the difficulty level is medium. If there was more levels, I could increase the speed of the enemy as the game progresses.Thank you for the feedback!

Good job sticking with it when facing setbacks.

In this jam, I exceeded the development time (3h) by several hours. There were a lot of things I hadn't done before, so it took me a while to figure out how to do them. I accidentally managed to corrupt some of the files in the middle of development, so I had to start all over again. Regardless, it would be great to get some feedback so I can improve my games in the future, thank you <3
