I think I found a bug were the character just goes in a circle if you hold down up, and right. Also, it seems like the left and right controls are inverse and you have to hold down two buttons if you want to go up or down as alone, they don't do anything
Thanks for your feedback. The controls are confusing for sure and I could improve how they are explained in game (currently not at all haha), and its hard to tell what direction you are pointing in initially. The game controls like a top-down racing game: Left and Right change the direction you are facing/moving, Up and Down make you go faster or slower. So its expected that holding up and right would go in circles
ohhhhhh! That makes a lot more sense
This is incredible! Honestly I had more fun with this than Death Stranding.
It took me a while to get the hang of it, but eventually I was able to win with 5/5 settlements alive.
There's an excellent balance between gameplay elements. Often I lost due to dropping inventory off too soon instead of taking it to a further way town in more need. On my second last game I lost due to misjudging a cloud and dying to acid rain.
I would totally believe this was some lost shareware masterpiece from the '90s.
Thank you for your very kind words! I didn't make the connection until after the jam, but it did end up being very similar conceptually to Death Stranding haha.
Great job winning with all 5 settlements, I was worried I had made it too difficult. It was tricky to balance the two main constants of settlement health and supply refill time
love the art and aestetic
Thank you :D
Great idea and theme. I think the only problem with the game is that the controls are a little difficult to understand. Other than that, the gameplay and visuals are very good. Congrats!
Thanks! The controls are definitely one of the things I plan to improve first in the post-jam version
I love your game which seems very clean, good story and music and gameplay fun, good job !
Thank you :)
Really cool game. I love the wasteland bike-rider theme. The game is challenging but not unfair. The parallax scrolling effect of the clouds is really neat and you put the dithering to good use for semi-transparency. Great job!
Thanks for singling out the clouds, they're one of the parts of the game I'm most proud of!
Really cool idea and I liked the unique story you incorporated with the game! My one big critique is the bike controls felt hard to use, but otherwise the concept was really cool, and I especially liked the minimap feature. Nice entry :)
Thank you :). I agree, the controls could use some tuning, which I plan to do in the post-jam version. The mini-map was a real stretch to cram in, I basically copied the normal draw code and divided everything by 4 which worked far better than it had any right to.
Really creative game, and well executed as well, I only managed to save 1 settlement, and felt so bad when ever one was lost.
Thanks! Good job on making it out alive all the same
I love the controls of this one, the way you have to turn and accelerate. It's challenging to keep the settlements alive, but it's fun to weave through the rain. The visuals are consistent and charming, and the SFX fit quite well with the game. Only slightly above the time limit, but making this in 3h32min is really impressive.
Thank you :D. I'm happy with how the rain ended up working with the controls to create the weaving game-play you describe, especially since it is just unmodified perlin noise (wouldn't have had time for anything else). The game was roughly done in content around 3 hours but really needed the extra 30 mins to balance the difficulty a bit
The controls are a bit weird, but the game is really creative! Well done!
Thank you! Something I plan to improve in the post-jam version :)
Nice unique idea. Got a lot done for a short amount of time.
Thanks!
