I just randomly found this game and it's really nice!! Some of the puzzles really got me thinking and I loved watching the character run through the level to get all of the stars it was very satisfying :)

Dangg that's better than my best ever score nice job! Also glad you liked it :)

Like your vampire survivors concept, also liked all the monsters you added :) Pointers: The game was a bit unplayable with frame rate, and I felt like the gameplay felt a bit dull because really all you do is move with WASD, would be nice to have to do something with the mouse too. Good job on submitting an entry though!!

Loved the art and music, super cute! Here's some pointers I got for your game:

  • The movement: I feel like you could make your game's movement even better by adding slight acceleration and deceleration to the movement logic, this would help the player's movement feel more fluid and less rigid (if you used the right amount)
  • I feel like the art was really cool, but there's a few things that I felt were kind of absent. One was wind particles moving up to emphasize more that the player is falling, and it would have been cool to see the player have a falling animation that looped (maybe even just like a 2 frame animation) rather than one frame throughout. I still want to note with that though, I thought it was nice that you kind of subtly swayed the player up and down a little to try to sell that falling effect.
  • Final thing, kind of random but I felt like the sound effect for the clinging on the side of the wall didn't really match with the action, it just felt a bit off, idk that could be personal preference

Overall loved how your game turned out really, nice work!!

Wow... I love the gameplay and art, very simple but very satisfying! Music pairs along with everything very well too. My one critique is it feels like eventually you get to a certain point where the enemy spawn rate just skyrockets and you can't do much about it. My high score was 51. Overall, very well put together entry!

Cool entry! I enjoyed your little intro cutscene at the beginning and the music was pretty neat too. Some pointers:

  • Felt like the atmosphere of the game could have been improved with a background rather than just a solid purple color. You could have added to the atmosphere also by adding more tiles to the tile set, it felt like while platforming there wasn't that many
  • The charging of the gun was a nice idea, and I think you could improve it by adding a bar above the player to show how close they are to fully charging the gun
  • I noticed your cutscene firstly was a bit long, causing me to wait to finally be able to play. I also noticed about the cutscene that it seemed very polished compared to the rest of the gameplay, my suggestion would be to focus more on polishing the environment the player is in, as well as the player mechanics.

Overall though I enjoyed your game and the story, and played it for a good bit, nice job :)

Thanks for playing and sorry I made the win condition a bit hard to reach, I'm thinking that I'll lower it considering the feedback the game has received.

Thanks for the feedback! I about buying the upgrades, it is intentional that it only lasts for the first minigame (I added that info in the description just now). Also the main reason I made the goal $15,000 because I thought it was very challenging but also doable, and I wanted the player to play a lot of times and learn to eventually reach that mark. Sorry if it was too high. But thank you for all the input you provided, it helps a lot.

Wowwwwww you guys absolutely cooked on this!! The music was absolutely fire, I literally would at some points just sit on the same screen so i could listen and vibe to the music lol. The art was incredible too and I loved the hanger game mechanic! I can tell you guys are very seasoned with game jams and playing this gives me so much motivation to keep going with game development.

My critique for the game I guess is that to me, one of the jumps to get one of the coins just felt impossible, like I thought I was missing something, bc I spent like 15 mins trying to get it and eventually just gave up and tried to find another coin instead. Maybe I'm just bad at the game idk. Also it would be nice if I could see the controls in the description too.

Overall, just superb job is all I can say.

Really enjoyed the presentation of your game!! Also thought it was pretty fun to go around sucking people's blood lol. I wish though that the people who's blood you were sucking made some attempt to run away, so the game would force you to be moving around constantly. But for real, nice work!

Fun game! I really enjoyed your take on the theme, and also found it pretty fun to try to shoot down all of the enemy ai! My one pointer for you is that the SFX are like really loud, even when I turn my headset down, and they are much louder then the BG audio which made the audio for me sound a bit clunky.  Overall nice job though!!

Wow this game is for sure a hidden gem in the jam! I loved all the features and mechanics you added - and just little things like showing the stats of your next enemy, and comparing items you have on with new ones you might buy, those small details really go a long way! I also loved all of the art but just like some other people said, I do wish the characters had a little more movement during fights. Overall your team should be very proud, this game has a really nice concept and execution of that concept!

Nice entry, the game felt very satisfying to play, and I just found myself playing again and again! Awesome work!

Really liked the concept of your game and I'm impressed by the AI enemies you created! One thing that got me a little frustrated was that I felt like jumping, attacking, and dodging were a little delayed, and they didn't trigger right as I hit the key to do so. But overall, I think this is a solid game with a nice idea behind it.

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry I didn't make that clear about the shop upgrades, I'll add a note about that in the description

Loved the cute art style, and I also really enjoyed the concept of the game with the whole apples thing! This is amazing work, and especially awesome that you're a solo developer too!

I liked your interesting take on pong! The game was challenging but I liked it! One thing is that I wish it had audio, and also the controls felt a bit touchy, but otherwise, nice work :)

GGs! I intentionally made the game pretty hard to beat so great job on that!! Also glad you liked the game we put a lot of effort into it!

I loved your game's vibe and I watched your video too, very well made! For one thing you could improve, I think it would have been cool to stylize the environments more by maybe making them cover different areas (rather than they all are a giant square) and I wish there were different crops you could cut. Overall be very proud of yourself, this is a super cool game, especially for a solo developer!

Absolutely loved the art and polish! I also thought your incorporation of "style" was pretty neat. For ways to improve the game, I would say you could try to make the spawn rate of items and the speed of the game increase over time, and also make the player collect more than 3 items. I think those could features could make the game a lot more replayable, and I would totally love to see this idea expanded upon in the future if you want. Regardless, awesome job!

Glad you liked the polishing! Your issue about the check sorting was something I noticed while playing too, and honestly I tried to fix it but couldn't figure out how. Maybe post jam I'll find a solution.

tysm for the feedback! I just updated the game page to add a "how to play" for each minigame, so hopefully that will clear up anymore confusion. Also glad you noticed the easter eggs :)

Thanks for the feedback and glad you liked the art! You're right, the time to complete minigames gets shorter as you go along, and I see your concerns with the minigame time frames, and I made those the way they were purely because I was trying to make the game difficult (so you would have to play a couple times before you actually won). In the future, I definitely could add an easier difficultly with longer minigame times.

Really cool idea! I like how you implemented style into your game. Also had fun making this dude. I would say one thing that would have been cool in your game is if the items costed different amounts of money, and you created your "budget" outfit. idk. Super fun overall tho!

Thanks so much for the feedback, and glad you liked the art and music, our team worked super hard on those!

I totally understand your concern, and my goal as the programmer for that issue was to have a cutscene of Bob running across the screen in between rounds (similar to the animation shown before you run the game), and that was going to give the player a break. I just ran out of time, once again time management wasn't that great for me this jam lol. But yeah I agree with you on that.

Hey I just want to say thank you for the awesome audio asset, I used it in my game jam entry and it worked perfect! Thanks so much! https://officialchaser8.itch.io/tarot-dash

Sorry about not putting checkpoints, the only reason I didn't do so was because I only had 3 levels anyway. But those saws on level 2 - they used to cover even more space so I'm glad I shrunk them down a little lol, and maybe shoulda made it even easier.

Ok I know i'm sending another comment but WOW I just now beat the entirety of the game and I'm so impressed!! By far the hardest level for me was the one where you had to string together double jumps upside down at the end that one was BRUTAL. fr tho this game is awesome, and one of, maybe even my favorite game of the jam in terms of gameplay and fun.

I was drawn to playing this firstly bc I noticed that your mechanics were kinda like the ones in my game, and I just want to say great job! All the mechanics were  clean and gave me complete control which I appreciated. The game is also really challenging but it is super satisfying when you conquer a tough level, lowkey gave me the same vibes as like beating a geometry dash level. I also appreciate a lot how much effort you put in to level design and the levels are very cool.

My only problem was that often when I clicked "c" to activate me new card's ability, it wouldn't register because I hit "c" a fraction of a second early. I would have liked some more leniency on that because it left me pretty frustrated at times. You could always do that by just making the card hitbox bigger, not the actual sprite, I'm pretty sure.

Really cool game and I'm glad I played, and your game totally deserves more rates imo.

Really nice entry. I loved the visuals and how created such a nice atmosphere! One thing I would say is that I wish I could keep the game running if I was in another browser because clicking over and over was getting a bit monotonous for me. idk how you would do that with Godot, but it would be a cool additional feature. Overall great job!

This is so good for a first jam!! I think the time bending mechanic is really neat and from a programmers standpoint I would think it would be a pretty difficult thing to code.  Here's some small things I think could make your game even better:

  • Rather than holding "r" to restart, I think it would have just been better to click "r", also the issue came up where I would hold r a bit too long and the screen would glitch.
  • A little more variation in the music: I found the background audio a bit repetitive, but I also still want to give you props for trying to make the music yourself. For that I would just keep watching tutorials and videos about making music.
  • Keep the AI's sprite facing only one way when the player's x-coordinate is the same as the AI's: I noticed the AI box thingys would flicker when I was on top or below them.

Overall, I would say be very proud of yourself this is a really nice entry and I enjoyed it a ton! I would also really encourage you to keep making games and doing more game jams :)

Very solid game this is definitely one of the most satisfying games from the jam, it's weirdly fun to line up all the objects and get like 20 of them on the screen and blow everything up!! I would just say my critique is that there wasn't much variation to the gameplay. Otherwise great work!!

Thanks! I'm so sorry about you getting stuck in that area I totally missed it lol, I was rushing. But I did implement a feature where can just click "r" to reset the level.  I also really enjoyed your game!

Thanks and glad you enjoyed! It is developed solo but I did use a premade tile set and all audio I didn’t make myself.

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the feedback! Sliding was a mechanic I didn’t get time to implement- but you’re right it would have made the wall climbing a lot smoother and more controllable.

Nice game! I was hoping someone would use yellow and red cards bc I initially thought about making a soccer game where you give out yellow and red cards lol. I really liked the animations when they got sent to heaven or hell too. Main thing and I know you already mentioned it but audio especially for the heaven and hell animations would have made the game a lot better, but it's totally alright I know everyone was in a time crunch and had to cut things out, cuz that's how game jams go. Overall really enjoyed it tho.

I used your tileset in my newest game jam game! It worked perfect! Tysm! https://officialchaser8.itch.io/tarot-dash

This is really addicting and fun! One of my favorites from the jam; I found myself playing over and over! Nice entry :)

Nice entry! I really liked the art and environments of each level, I think it benefitted the feel of the game in a big way. I would say one critique I have is just that the cat animations often didn't seem to be matching up with my inputs, and they would flicker sometimes. Overall though really fun game and I enjoyed it even more bc I'm a cat person lol

Thanks for playing! About the card blocking the gameplay, in the future I'll probably make it smaller and slightly transparent to make it easier for the player, and I appreciate the advice
