Really cool concept and smooth animations, in particular the strikes and picking up / placing down the checkpoints. Great implementation of the jam theme and focus, great work!

Brilliant idea to have the checkpoint as an optional party member! I also enjoyed the atmosphere of the game and the mechanics. The art style is great. Nice work. However, the significant scaling / level of detail discrepancy between characters and environment looks a bit odd to me. The one thing I would change is the mixed controls between mouse and keyboard - I'd prefer to have either or both consistently throughout the game, similar to Darkest Dungeon for example.

Developer

Yup, I wanted to make the backgrounds more detailed, but just ran out of time - I'm no artist lol..
I didn't think of the controls that much. It would've been a good idea to stick to a single input device.

ULTRA cool game!!! As a huge fan of Slay the Spire this game was really fun, maybe a little slow but implementation of both themes are great !!

I was confused about what buttons to press. I figured out "a" and "d" from the on screen command, but how do I open the door? Clearly other people figured it out hahaha ... but maybe add a little tutorial to the game page? I tried clicking, pressing space, W, S, and E ... what did I miss?

Developer

Well.. You're supposed to move left at first haha..
Then you pick up the checkpoint and keep moving right from that point onward.
You're right - I should have made it more clear.

Fun game, I enjoyed it. The art style was nice, and I always enjoy turn based combat like that, though it did get a little repetitive. Nice work!

i enjoyed this game quite a bit, loved the art style. Although the combat can get repetetive at times, some of the harder encounters had me stratagise

Developer

I probably should've made the game a little shorter.

Thanks for your feedback :)
