What assets did you use in this project?
I had a sky shader that I bought and a free water shader I got from the net.
Everything else should be done by me. Some physics code might be inspired by various forums and tutorials though.

I liked rope physics a lot here. It was somewhat unintuitive initially that I have to press button to stop the rope, I'd expect it stops when float touches water. After some trial I get used to it and it became an easy task to pull all of the boxes. Worked without bugs, good implementation.

Style is simplistic but cohesive, maybe water even too realistic, but that's fine.

I modeled the rope/line to what I remember real fishing rod is like. It actually keeps dropping if you don’t stop it - although it has been ages since I’ve done actual real life fishing haha, so not sure it’s really that accurate.

Thanks for playing!

Even if it has few little bug, i really enjoied it, nice entry and cool game!!

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

If you have the time and see this, I’d like to know what bugs you were encountering!

I really enjoied the rod system, the bug that sometimes happened to me is that sometimes the rod got weird movement, i don't know if is because i'm still using a quest 1 for making and testing VR games. But aside of that, i really enjoied your game too!

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I don’t know if that would make a difference if you are using your PC anyway hmmm

Either way, it was my first time doing physics simulation using particles/verlet. I might’ve overestimated how long learning that would take lol. The whole rod definitlye needs another pass or two to be more smooth and work properly.

And yeah, glad you enjoyed it regardless!

How fun! I finished in 418.27s. I really liked playing. I see in your description you wished you had added sound, having read that before playing, I imagined my own soundtrack which made it feel jaunty and fun. It felt like the line had a mind of its own which would fit with that light-hearted feel that I prescribed it. I think the water looks really cool and a very inventive way to create the river walls out of cubes. I quite like the boxy art style too, I appreciate that the checkerboard texture is throughout so it feels consistent and intentional.

Developer(+1)

Well, I was aiming for something more realistic. I wished to make the rod bend too, which I think would’ve helped with flinging the line more accurately. And thanks for noticing! I actually focused on consistency at the end of the jam with my remaining time. I didn’t have any 3D models prepared so I just did the best I could with what I had!

This is intuitive and fun. I was even trying to fish the truck on the bridge, couldn't throw far enough

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, the fighing line isn’t even that long lol

Really nice job on the rod mechanic. I did manage to lose the line attached to the rod when I got a box!

Part of being a good fisher is taking good care of your equipment :^)

But jokes aside, thanks! And, ahh, that sucks. It sounds like the physics simulation broke or something. I tried making it reliable and it worked for me. I’m curious if you were swinging it around violently or did something else out of the ordinary. Or if it simply broke by floating in the water.

A bug: I fell in the water and when I respawned the line had disappeared from the fishing rod

Developer

Oh my.. Looks like teleporting can break the physics then. Good to know.

Was really fun playing around with the fishing rod

Developer

Nice

Thoroughly enjoyed this game. The mechanic of the fishing poll was rock solid. Would have liked a quick sound pass, but otherwise, great submission! (btw: I beat it in 283s,but I spent a bit of time playing with the casting mechanic lol)

Developer

Thank you! And yeah, sound is like one of the most essential things imo, but it would’ve taken too long. Maybe I’ll add them later just to see how it feels.
