I liked the visuals and the presentation. Especially the rocks had a nice touch and made it clear what to do without writing a bunch of text. I like that there are a couple of areas to explore, even if they are small, it’s a jam after all.

Probably the best feeling of adventure I got so far in the jam games. The rabbits made it weird, but in a good way.

I honestly disagree with people and I wished there was more movement speed for this type of game, but to each their own.

I do have one personal gripe, and it’s the game loop. I thought the game was too difficult at first. The water in particular I struggled with. And it felt like I’d need to do many tedious motions to get to the goal and almost gave up. Overall, I thought I had to visit all areas, but turns out you just have to build the house. And that part was not intuitive compared to everything else. Sure, the rabbit kinda hints at it, but I didn’t know you have to actually put the wood into the house. Once I figured out that’s the goal, I just needed to do the tunnel and squash the spiders (my favorite part) to get enough wood to complete it (You can pick up two and then use them to drag another using the physics. Also, the 3 seconds are enough for me ;D for the rest). At least I can say that that part was fun to me.

I do think you attempted something ambitious and it would take a little bit more time to nail the design that you probably had in your head and to polish everything to be more smooth. I’m not going to subtract points for that since it’s a jam.

Thanks for such a detailed feedback! It's very valuable for me to know where the game is confusing or unintentionally hard, I'm trying to improve my skill in making game design right.

You're super fast with those 3'' planks :) I've put them there mostly for demonstration purposes but it's not forbidden to use them for building if you can cope with that.

I was going to say that it's weird that these rabbits need mail, but I'm also a shrimp... I loved the level design of this and the looks. The audio also seemed pretty polished. I'm not too sure about the game design choice of having the planks be on a timer. The speed the player moves at was great! I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to getting motion sickness, but didn't experience any here! Great submission!

Developer

Thanks! Agree with your doubts on timers. Initially when I added them in the middle of development it seemed to me as a great idea, but when I see finished game I can say there is less they add to gameplay and more they lead to unnecessary confusion.

That was a pretty fun little game! Definitely felt like that could be one level in a much bigger game! Lot of fun systems and interactions with the planks!

Awesome job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, really interesting and amazing game! I like the fact that with a simple object you can do different things and also i rellay liked the style and the environment! Really good entry!!

Developer

Thank you! I'm happy you like the core idea of the game to use plank for everything :)

Phew. A tough one. :-)

Interesting way of delivery game. And I must say: I hate planks from now on. They're too fragile. :-D

Well done!

PS: Where can I get these bunnies as a plushy

Developer

What a fun feedback :D Thank you!

Really nice concept.  I like how you built all the levels/obstacles-mechanics around the planks. I also like the style and the cute rabbits. Main problem at the beginning was to find out how to go over the water.

And glad that the spiders are not looking "too" realistic^^

Thanks! I struggled a lot with water-related mechanics trying to make things more intuitive and still feel it has to be improved. Happy to know you liked the idea of levels based on mechanics, it’s the key concept of the game.

The two planks under the valley took me some time to figure out how to get across the river without dying. The "rock with instructions" blends in so well that I didn't notice them at first, maybe make them glow or something to be more visible?

The game only has smooth locomotion which made me a bit sick, but I guess you have to remove teleportation as that would make the challenge too easy.

The lava part is a bit difficult for me. Am I suppose to leave some of the planks there? I can't get all planks back in time.

Anyway, great game and good job for finishing it. The SFX are really good.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

You're right about teleportation, it didn't fit well with the challenges.

Your guess is correct, you don't have to collect all of the planks, only enough to build the mailbox, i.e. six planks. I should've made it more obvious for the player somehow.

I got one plank on the house but that was really just luck. I couldn't reach the planks on the floor as the player height was too high and I couldn't recenter myself lower without it being awkward. I wasn't sure how to the the planks down the river. There was no jump button so I would sink everytime I tried to get on the plank and use the other plank to paddle? The rabbit tutorial was great though, perfect way to let the player know how to play the game without giving me a long winded text box.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Very sad the floor level is wrong for you, I tested with my son and it worked for both of us of different height, might be something happened in release version. You did it correctly with paddle, it's correct to stay up on one plank and use another as paddle. Sorry for these unfortunate bugs, seems they appear only on the .apk build, I'm going to remove apk version now.

Jam HostSubmitted

I'll if I can give it another go! I'll trying resetting my quest height

Developer

It would be great! Just use PCVR version if possible, I've already removed the apk build from the game page.

Gave it another go and was able to complete the house! 5:29 was my score! I have to say the planks leading up to the high platform above the lava was the best part of the game. That could be an interesting game all on it's own. Different planks that have different powers, interesting platform configurations and booby traps. When it said that I had to glide with the wood plank I was like...Uhh... I bet I'm gonna bug out and do it wrong and fall... But nope! I flew! How friggin cool is that? Do you mind me asking how you worked that out in VR? That mechanic worked really really well.

Developer

Wow, thank you, I'm very glad you enjoyed it and made it to the end!

The glide motion is based on constant velocity:

* horizontally move in direction of sight, i.e. camera direction, with constant speed

* vertically remove gravity and move downwards with another constant speed

I set horizontal speed 5 times greater than vertical component to create feeling of gliding in the air.

Jam HostSubmitted

Oh wow so simple! I guess  I just over thought it in my head. Fantastic!
