cool game, I like the mechanics, I agree having it closed in would be cool and some puzzles, but i dig the idea and aesthetic I love playing obstacles. Cool game Keep on it!

I haven't played gorilla tag yet so I wasn't used to moving around in this way.  Although there was an element of climbing over the wall to get out, this felt a little out of genre for an escape room.  I found myself frustrated by falling off the first few platforms, so I didn't progress to the rest of the course.  Nice use of music.  I could see this being enjoyable for someone with a little more coordination than me.  :-)

I have never played gorilla tag so I can't compare how well you executed the mechanics that are similar to it, but I found it to be pretty fun. It does appear you can skip a good chunk of the course by slamming both your hands down and launching yourself. Not that that's a bad thing. I had a ton of fun doing it! Also the dancing monkeys are a vibe that I can get with.

Overall, it was a great prototype for a game jam entry and exploration of gorilla tag movement and climbing. It would have been nice to have more escape elements to it besides climbing obstacles, but hey! It's a game jam and there is literally no time to do anything. Just getting a solid prototype out is amazing!

Congrats on this... and those dancing monkeys.

haha yeah I developed and tested sitting down  so I could only get so high. After I submitted I tested standing up, and oh boi i didn't realise how high you could get 😂

woo I got 22 seconds. Though I skipped most of the jungle parts of the platforms. Gorillas were cute, though I wish there was more of an escape room to the game rather than a platformer. Maybe adding some area's you need to activate buttons within a certain time before the cage opens and you escape to your friends would have made it incorporate the theme a bit better. Or even some of the climables be upside down so that you cant just bounce and skip areas of the level, and use those to reach areas that cant be accessed by the regular gorilla tag mechanic.

Oh how, I didn't realise it could be finished that quickly 😅 yeah I agree, I only had two days to make it. I wish I added more objectives like you said

Game was running at like 50Fps and i have absolutely no idea how, The level is extremely simple and the Gorilla Tag Mechanic is extremely janky, Theres a reason the Gorilla Tag hands are shaped the way they are but in this game they are just simple static literal hands that barely have any grip and are extremely bouncy

The entire course is just there for decoration because you can skip the entire thing from the start, i managed to get my Escape time down to 6 seconds and my arms are extremely sore from trying to launch myself as high as possible

This game would have been cool if Gorilla Tag is a thing but unfortunately this game just made me install Gorilla Tag right after so i could try some proper gorilla mechanics haha

Honestly wouldnt have been bad if the game was running at a smooth 90fps and if there was some actual effort put into the visuals of the game, it felt like the entire time of the gamejam was spent trying to copy paste the Gorilla Tag mechanic from a youtube video and then less than 1 hour was spent actually making the level and such

Yeah I used URP, it was weird on Unity play mode, was smooth as ever. But when I finally built it, it ran like crap, was too late to change. When I've done the other jams I didn't use URP and had way more things involved in the game and they run fine.

Gotta say the rest of what you say is pretty dickish considering it's a vr jam where people are learning and may not have all the time in world to work on this. What game did you submit?

Only had two days to make it. Ape Escape uses Gorilla Tag Mechanics (thanks Justin) and you must escape the ape enclosure to your friends! And you can try to get a personal best!
