definitely brought me straight into the world of NES in my head - Castlevania came to mind - well done!
thank you!!! It definitely is pure NES
You're doing a great job of bringing out the sounds and balancing the melodies with the limited channels on a tracker. Really great stuff, love to hear it!
thank you so much! It certainly is a major challenge haha
Very 8-bit game like! I can imagine this in terraria or something similar! I enjoyed this very much :)
Thank you so much! 8-bit music is terrifying territory for me because I typically like to maximize. I'm glad you enjoyed this!
You killed it!!
even the bass seems to have a harmonic overtone melody. Didn't realize the potential of chiptune. At first i thought zelda for gameboy advanced, and then scope broadened as the music started to go through variations in sound pallete. and i say sound pallete because what you did seems more like sound design then stock instruments. The sounds designed indicated a scene change for me, but all still in the crystal castle, so not straying to far from the main theme. Just variations on the main theme. Mario 64 could have learned a lot from the coherence displayed in this one song. Well done!
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate the kind words! It's been really fun working with the tight constraints of the NES soundchip and needing to be creative to get multiple voices into 4 or 5 channels. I'm glad you enjoyed it within those constraints!!
Nice chiptune/8 bit take on the theme. Really fun to listen too!
thanks!!! Learning NES sound chip design is an ongoing process . 😛
Tbh, I felt the white noise percussion was a bit too busy and winds up masking the melody... it wasn't until 0:58 that I realized it was supposed to be a waltz. I enjoyed the melody once I knew what to listen for, especially around 0:48... but on the first listen I was lost.
Thank you! That’s really good feedback!
