Letting it drag out longer is a good idea, thank you! I was mainly rushing it since I realised I only had like less than two hours haha, which is also why I used musescore (I'm still slow with Logic and I'm having a problem with my sounds so I think I need to redownload it anyway, so). I do have training for music, and I've been using musescore for years now. I input each note! Sometimes I'll use musescore then export it as midi into Logic, which helps because sometimes I like the musescore sounds more at times, and I don't have a proper set up for Logic yet so it's more time-consuming to put in notes. I find musescore to be the easiest note program so far! But that's probably because I've mainly used that one over time, haha.

Very 8-bit game like! I can imagine this in terraria or something similar! I enjoyed this very much :)

Maybe some variation in the horn in the start would be nice? The guitar is really nice, I enjoyed it.

I like how it builds! Makes it feel a bit minimalist. Nice vibe overall, really sucks me in to the atmosphere!

Very dark, almost paranoid in mood. The percussion is quite nice. What sounds did you use for the timpani and such? I like the instrument that comes in a little later almost in solo. Overall a nice piece, with a different (but not bad!) vibe!

Nice atmosphere, it feels cool and curious. Love the sounds! I wonder if you could compress/ limit the audio slightly? It starts to get a bit fuzzy and such when playing on the higher levels on my Mac. Overall an enjoyable piece! Very nice :)

Feels quite grand and something I'd hear in an adventure game. I'm a fan of pieces like this, so it was a joy to hear!

Quite a simple piece- perhaps some rhythm changes would help with variation? This piece gives off a cool and a bit of a sharp atmosphere, as if I can never truly relax. Nice work!

Very upbeat and lifting. The fast running lines really help for pushing the music forward. There's good variation while also sticking to material throughout. Nice work!

I love the little runs at the start, but I feel like the attacks for each of those are slightly too hard? It sounds like it kind of clips a little bit. I could definitely dance to something like this, so I think the title was very fitting. Nice work overall! I enjoyed :)

I like the call and response between the lower and higher registers- that was well done. I also liked the A-C# and G-C# call at the end. This piece was really calming and atmospheric, which is something I always enjoy. Nice work!

(1 edit)

I found it a bit hard to keep up with the triple meter for the whole way through- I think a bit more emphasis on the first beat in some parts would have been nice. I enjoyed the light ish feel throughout, and I actually enjoyed the percussion with the orchestra! The transition between the darker section and the lighter one in the second half felt a little unnatural, but something like that would be an easy enough fix. I thought overall that it was a nice mix and fit the theme. Well done!

What are the cool sounds you found for voice? I also use Logic from time to time, so I'm interested haha. When you hear the voices more, I'm wondering if you can add a softer attack, and a bit of a sustain? Maybe some portamento? I find voices and strings hard to sound human like. I also liked the fade out at the end. Overall, a very grand piece which I enjoyed! Nice work!

Very grand! It feels like I'm walking into something way bigger than myself, so it definitely suits a crystal castle, though on the darker side, which I enjoyed. The chimes/bells really put it together I think.

I'm wondering if you could humanise the strings more? At the moment they feel very computer like when they change note, so I think some velocity and adding a little bit of sustain at the end may help your strings. I really enjoyed the bass- it really moved the piece forward. Nice work!

I love that marimba (?) like sound, very calming. The strings were also lovely!

Definitely suits the name- a bit trippy! Interesting work!

Very different to my first expectations of Crystal Castle, but I think it suits nonetheless. It feels very energetic in a way, which I enjoy. Nice work!

I will admit it took me a minute to realise why there was half a minute of silence at the end- I forgot to specify the spots I wanted to export, haha (oops). Probably because I may have been rushing slightly to finish it in time. Rookie mistake- thanks for letting me know! I'll try to prioritise mixing more next time! Thank you!

Thank you!!

I liked the melody line around the 2 minute mark, and also how the drum came in earlier on in the piece- that felt quite natural. Some of the transitions (especially the last one in the last ten to fifteen seconds ish) felt a little quick/unexpected, so I'm wondering if maybe you extend the space between each part or if you use something as a pivot between the two sections? Overall a nice piece which I enjoyed :)

I really enjoyed the choir, though at times I wish I could hear it more (though I was playing this through Mac speakers so that might be why). I also liked how the music felt like it was always moving along, and built in different ways. Good use of expanding your material!

hi! Yes I am. What sort of game are you creating?

Hi,

this is my first game jam and I would like to join as a composer for someone's team! I'm pretty diverse in terms of genre (with a specific love for horror/indie/romance, with whatever instruments. Please reply if interested!
