Great concept but a little lost with myself

Submitted

Very cool concept! Nice one :)

This is such a creative and weird idea!

Good Game!! it got a bit tricky at parts :DD but other then that i enjoyes the creative mechanic!!!

if you would like to test my game:

Very creative! Rather difficult to figure out though, and I had to read the description to find out I need to press backspace to break the body. The collision detection is weird, though you seem to be aware of it. I got to the part where it said "Drop to the bottom for maximum launch". I'm not sure if it bugged out, or if I missed something obvious, because nothing I did launched me.

Developer

You need to drop to the bottom of the blue beam and you will reach the next which is above it.

Submitted

Yeah, that didn't work for me. The blue beam never launched me. It did make my jumps a bit higher though.

Fun game. Wacky controls though, I would have liked maybe a mini tutorial of sorts in game

Submitted

Simple, but interesting.
After I saw the cheat map and realized that most of the game is spent climbing, it reminded me of "Getting Over It".

I think i softlocked myself...

The game (while it lasted) was fun, good mechanichs, good graphics... I definitively enjoyed it... it's a pity that i got stuck... =(

Developer

Oh wow! Yes you got stuck. It happened to me once I started playtesting the final version that I've already uploaded to Itch. But I really appreciate that you've got to there. Most of the people that played the game got stuck on the detach-reset-detach puzzle with the 2 tall steps. This is where the game becomes fun - wall climbing, double jumping, dashing and no more detaching bulls**ts :D

Thank you for playing the game and reaching to at least 50% of my silly and (un)intentionally buggy game. This means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

That was really cool! It was a very interesting idea, at first I was stuck but that is because I never pressed anything lol but once I understood it it was really cool! Well done!!

Really original idea!

This is a fantastic idea you are going for.
There is quite a big room for opportunities for that kind of game (even more meta once)
and that you added in achievements is huge plus.

For some feedback:
- Try to find am easier way to teach the player. In the current setup it is  a bit hart to figure out.
- As you stated in your description, the collision detection can be improved on.
- And finally I think that the game can benefit from some good graphics and sounds.

Probably one of the most original submission of the jam.
I'm curious to were it lands in the final ratings.

Thanks for the feedback. It means a lot!

A super original idea! Really cool to be honest, congratulations :D Also feel free to check my game ;)

Developer(+1)

I already played your game and commented on it, and you replied... :(

Submitted

Omg I'm so sorry!!! I didn't remember D: Sorry and thank you :(

Super creative, especially that attack animation! :D

Just like some people from the comments, I also couldn't figure out how to start because the game seemed to misbehave at first.

But that didn't ruin my impression from the game! I love seeing interesting concepts like that, thank you very much for making it.

The start feels a bit slow but it catches up really fast. Nice game.

Awesome idea, you packed so much stuff into this game, this is awesome, great work, well done! A few things though, I think some feedback elements were missing (such as enemies fighting you - it just felt like -un-intentionally buggy jittering rather than taking damage. Also, I couldn't tell what happens if I bumped into quit enemies before getting STA. The first time you get STA and had to squeeze through the glitch looked amazing, but felt a little wonky/jittery. Absolutely brilliant creativity and topic use, and love the visuals.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with everything you said. The game is far from polished. I started adding content after content, features after features and at the end there was no time for polishing or even to find some royalty-free ambient music. BTW if you are interested, you can watch just the beginning of my walkthrough video (first 15 seconds) to see how the game should've started, the ground enemies actually should hit and damage the player, but on the final build something went wrong.

Thanks again for the feedback. It felt really honest and constructive. I'll play your game tomorrow!

Excellent! Understood - I think you certainly have much reason to be impressed with your work all in all. Always great to learn from game jams!

WOW!!!!

what an innovative game!! super creative and sleek. i got stuck after a while but i really enjoy the achievements (made me want to try and get em all) and the use of the symbols of language to  denote more than just their typical semantic assignments.

i loved the feel of this game (it runs so smooth! so intentional!) and really look forward to more of your work. thanks for sharing this!!
