This is an adorable game. I can see myself returning to it for a bit of relaxation in the future. Was Viridi by any chance an inspiration?
The pixel art is wonderfully done. I had fun trying out different arrangements of plants. The music is also very relaxing, but the loop could bit a bit longer so it doesn't get stale as quickly. The sound effects are nice, but in my opinion the "cut" and "compost" sounds are too loud relative to everything else.
I like the idea connecting to the "Failure is Progress" theme, but gameplay-wise it falls short. I think it would be more effective if you had to take care of the plants by watering them, but could choose to let them die in order to get nutrients. However, if you implemented this I would like an option to enter a sandbox mode so I can place my plants freely without worrying about them :)
I like that I can see the space taken up by each plant when I'm about to put a new one close to it!
You have a nice start with the visuals, variety of plants, and basic mechanics. With a few upgrades to the systems I could play it for much longer :)
Wow big comment thx :)
Yes i searched for game in the just make a garden, and Viridi was one of them.
:D It's cool to know my programmer's art is becoming better :). Yup yup longer music, im starting to make not ugly music, now it need to learn to make them longer!
The day1 idea was to water them and have time pass but time and life. I should have removed the nutriment to make it a sandbox as you say.
Thank you very much for all the input :).
Relaxing game, I wish there was a mode where the plants would grow from seeds and then die and give nutrients. I think that would be interesting and more fun than planting them and then composting them right away.
Yea I wish that too. That was mostly my plan but live and stuff 😅.
Thx :)
What a beautiful little game. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the nutrient mechanic, but it seems like once you place and compost enough plants, there isn't a need to keep track of how many nutrients or whatever your pot has. I imagine you originally had some sort of trackers for the amount of nutrients in the soil that go up and down as you plant and compost?
Here's my little pot. I call it Wall Rosie. Nice game. Thanks for making it!
Yea nutrient mechanic should have been removed cause it didnt get enaugh time. If look at the pot, you have the amounds of your soil, I originally had in mind to have time and usage.
Thx for the ss, added to the game screenshots ;) .
Verry chill and cool concept
thx :)
You have good visuals. I find this game a bit relaxing:)
Really creative concept! It was enjoyable to play! Nice work!
I like the smile tool. It made me smile :)
Smiling is important :)
Agreed!
It's super pretty and I like the vibe! But I didn't really knew what to do. I think some tooltips for the buttons in the top left corner would've been very helpful.
Thx, yea the nutriment mecanic didnt get enaugh love.
a very lovely relaxing short yet beautiful game. i love it :)
thx :)
Amazing concept. Really relaxing, no intense gameplay and super simple. Didn't understand the gameplay quite well the first time I played it, but when I understood, I had a lot of fun trying to make my pot look nice! Good work!
Interesting game! I enjoyed relaxing and making my pot look nice...
Then I realised that to be able to unlock all plants, I could spam plants and then compost them. It felt like they should have been unlocked from the start.
I would have unlocked all plants from the start, emphasised the vibe of "nobody wins or loses when potting plants", then have a feature where you take pictures of your plants... or something like that
