the Art is great, and the sound is amazing. The topic is also very fun

Nice fun game and also very polished. Usually when I test the games using the browser on my computer, almost everyone gets a little laggy and that happened to yours. It would be good to just make and downloadable version.

Developer

Ok! when I release the new version of the game I’ll make sure to make a downloadable version! :-D

Submitted(+1)

Cool (literally ;-D) The game is very polished, simple to understand, and easy to get into so all I can really say is more like nitpicking stuff such "I wish I could hit  SPACE to start rather than only 'ENTER' since my thumb is already there." "The level where you have to slow down or else you bonk the wall seems to be more of like "You have to be holding < as you come off the ground because otherwise you will bonk even though it does not look that way"

Your game is nice and fun.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :-D

The game is fun. I do kind of wish that the level music would continue after you have to restart, but that's the only "problem" (not really a problem) I had with the game.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I have a new version coming out soon that fixes that problem :-D

Really cool game! Would be a lot more responsive though if there's some coyote time and jump buffering (emphasis on the jump buffering, it doesn't feel that great when I press the spacebar just a bit too early and he doesn't jump) other than that great game! Really polished and I like the screen shake, the visuals too :) Great work!

Developer

Thank you! :-D I’ll make sure to add jump buffering and coyote time into the game!

Simple and cute idea and I liked the sounds
Developer

Thank you! :-D

Submitted(+1)

I love this! It's SUPER cute!

I'm interested in where you got the opening "ding" sound. (It's the exact same sound from Code.org's Minecraft puzzles...)

Developer

If you are talking about the sound the plays during the “recrafted studios presents” then I actually kinda made it myself. I took the Minecraft level up sound and put it into audacity and started playing around with all settings till I got something cool sounding, Thanks for the feedback! :-D

Submitted(+1)

Ahhhh. That makes sense then! Code.org probably did something similar. It's a really pretty sound!

Submitted(+1)

This game is frickin' adorable. I love how when you complete a level without collecting any fish, you play Jonas' "WOWIE!" sound bite.

Developer(+1)

Yeah LOL, I wanted to make getting no fish rewarding so I used Jonas’s WOWIE sound and it was a perfect fit!

Cool idea, i also like the sounds and the music.

There are some things i would do a bit different:

The movement feels a bit weird and is verry shuttering, probably try to use another movement methode (like in Unity with an Rigidbody). Also it would be nice to have other Inputs, because i dont know if its just me, but i didnt know, which button to press do acellertae/ decelerate. Probably use the arrow keys for that.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I agree on the jittery movement, definitely on my list to do. Yes, it is the arrow keys and I will make them WASD as well.

Really nice game, concept and music!

Developer

Thanks! :-D

The penguin is so damn cute! I wanna feed him, the more the better!

Submitted(+1)

It's a fun game and the music is great.

The only thing is that when the game becomes really fast it was hard to play accurately.

I honestly had to drop it at level 6.

Either way, Good job!

Submitted(+1)

So cute! love the art style and the interpretation of the theme was unique.

Developer

Thanks! I’m very glad you understood my interpretation of the theme! :D

such a fun game i like it ...

i gave it 5 stars on fun :)

i with that the start  button is space so my hands is on the keys and ready to play ...

also you can manage the sounds a bit more  so it's balanced coz it's too high.

however that doesn't mean that it's a bad game ore something, these things is just my feedback to enhance it a bit more

This was a fun little platformer, I love penguins so I clicked through to this out of the blue xD

The core mechanics were good, although I seemed to die a lot to some of my spacebar pushes not registering quickly, perhaps that was just me! I also spent a confused couple of minutes trying to work out why the <> buttons didn't do anything before finally realising you meant the arrow keys - might be something to label a touch more clearly in game in the future, but it's in the description so I can't fault that! My own common sense working against me there, really...

I liked how the fish played with the instinct to collect collectables, and made you larger so obstacles were harder to clear, and how the speed of the levels made dying almost an act of scouting ahead (failure is progress!) even if my memory is pants enough that I wasn't benefitting from it much.

Ultimately I quit out around Level 6 because I was really starting to feel the gameplay repetition, but I'm not a big platformer player so I wouldn't take that as a negative! The art and music worked well together, and the whole game has an air of polish which is quite impressive for the timeframe, on the whole, nIce Job!

Developer

Thank you very much for the great feedback! :D I am working on a lot of the elements you mentioned. Thank you for taking the time to play!

Submitted(+1)

good & fun concept, i liked the game, its a cute little platformer game, nice music & sound effects, its a bit sad that i have to give it 3 stars just cause the topic (Failure is progress) is not emplemented at all ):, & i also liked the studio logo lmao.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. :D I didn’t go the obvious route on the theme. Winning and losing were also part of the concept and tried my best to include that.

This is a fun game, tho I think it can use some change:

- The camera is zoomed in real close, which doesn't give the player time to react to the incoming hazards, or plan his speed relative to the platforms. This leads to a more careful approach of play, which isn't something bad - you just want to let the players who are good at the game and want to go faster do it. And the game wouldn't play different if the game was zoomed out.

- There might be some coyote time and jumping quality of life fixes, but I tested it quite a lot and I don't think there are. In a game all about jumping you should add coyote time for the jump, and also letting the player press jump a couple tens of a second before hitting the ground and still jumping. Jonas actually have a video all about this. Jonas' video

Other than that, really good pixel art and audio. Fun gameplay.

Well done!

Developer

Ok thanks for the feedback! I didn’t add coyote time in yet but thanks for the reminder! I’ll definitely make sure to add it in! :-D
