Hello, i'm paulby, i've now rated 140 games, and played even more.
Here's my top 20 games worth playing if you haven't already.
> __Top 10__
1. Ideas... https://appleman95.itch.io/ideas by @Apple
Surreal, silly, yet sincere narritive platformer, it was an absolute delight. Ideas also manages to nail the topic of the jam
2. Gravity bonk https://xopabyteh.itch.io/gravity-bonk by @Xopabyteh
fun, satisfying, unique game where you collide with your projectile to knock it around while dodging incoming enemies.
3. Spirit reaper https://the-missing-bracket.itch.io/soul-reaper by @The Missing Bracket
Simply put, despite flaws, this game has fantastic combat
4. Death insurance https://assaker.itch.io/death-insurance by @Assaker
This game is very interesting. The combat attacks automatically and you have to run away after to not get hit. The death for money + shop purchases is surprisingly satisfying at the start, and picking up your weapons from the middle of danger also works well.
5. Sunburn https://bl4st.itch.io/sunburn by @Bl4sterino
Peaceful world exploration, manipulation and mining, just remember to stay out of the sun.
6. Those perished in valorpath https://don-tnowe.itch.io/those-perished-in-valorpath by @don-tnowe
This is a tragic one, the game is ALMOST incredible, just let down hard by some small design decisions and a lack of playtesting. The super unique support protecting based soulsy combat and the graphics make me wish this was a full game, but the brutal erasure of progress when failing and the uncontrollable spirits make this a game definitely worth playing, even if you don't get very far.
7. Chroma climb https://rileys-legacy.itch.io/chroma-climb by @RileyGabrielson (probably)
Super simple but unique endless runner jumping between buildings, and you get better jumping skills as you die.
8. Overlap https://bazyleeshek.itch.io/overlap @Bazyleeshek
Top down shooter gameplay has a great tension between attacking, and speeding away while not attacking. then as you get further in and die the game goes mad with your clones.
9. Fractured https://steeley.itch.io/fractured @Steeley
Funny meta weirdness, but with polished gameplay to make it worth playing through
10. Haiku https://mistermorrisgames.itch.io/haiku-wowie-jam
Ten second death loops where you get better at exploring the more you explore, feels like a finished game.
my actual favorite game is Torchure https://footnotesforthefuture.itch.io/torchure i'm really proud of how natural the progress through failure is. but i can't put it in the top 10 because i made it

11. Event horizon https://jeebs.itch.io/event-horizon by @Jeebs
A short simple beautiful failure.
12. Blenderman https://saturn91.itch.io/blenderman @Mother_of_Steel
The interesting mechanic here is that you stop to read maps scattered around. but while you're reading blenderman keeps chasing, so you then have to run away again.
13. Jealous Odin https://cerberus255.itch.io/jealous-odin by @Cerebus
Polished and fun reverse city builder
14. Red handed https://badpiggy.itch.io/red-handed @BadPiggy
Consise breach then shoot action/puzzle game, with an interesting twist later where you can stealth around before shooting.
15. I return stronger https://alonellyfox.itch.io/metroidvania-game-wowie-game-jam @AlonellyFox
This metroidvania is the cleanest implementation of the "Gain powers through death" mechanic
16. Hinoken https://frogrammer.itch.io/hinoken @Frogrammer
Race to the end, then kill your past self.
17. Post haste https://myyeezieshavethesneezies.itch.io/post-haste @samueljbfrye
Clever puzzle game where you suicide cars to open up new paths
18. Soul bond https://mrtoadfrog.itch.io/soul-bond by ???
Short boss fight where your health is linked, take damage, then heal up to take more damage
19. Re-spawn https://blazerchlopiec.itch.io/re-spawn by @blazer2 Really smooth and polished game where you throw your respawn point then throw yourself into spikes
20. Tower brick https://saturntortilla.itch.io/tower-brick by @SaturnTortilla
My favorite of the corpse platformer, because you can spawn as different shapes, which attack you back when you respawn.
honorable mentions
guitar zero https://beatsjam.itch.io/guitar-zero for being hilarious for 20 seconds
lexicontainer https://anttihaavikko.itch.io/lexicontainer by ??? Very clever very polished letter placement game
Down in the fifth round https://slimgekko.itch.io/down-in-the-fifth-round boxing game where you have to throw the match, but cleverly adds enough twists and challenges as you play to keep it fun and interesting.
Pyroty https://neelkoos.itch.io/pyroty one of the most unusual and interesting twin stick shooters i've ever seen. lots of weird ideas and vibes going on in this one
Echoes https://feuillemorteentertainment.itch.io/echoes Break into a compound helped by your previous attmempts. a real brain teaser
Tenebris https://noteuclid.itch.io/tenebris very similar idea to torchure, but with the twist that you can't stop yourself from dying by being careful, and with short levels.
beacon of light https://rommat.itch.io/beacon-of-light top down tense pacman, shares the torchure mechanic of dropping lights on death, but does something completely different with it
Coal story https://tapioka-cake.itch.io/coal-story short 2d platformer with the torchure mechanic, but it has a nice little story about escaping the darkness :)
what great games have i missed?
