Nice game and a great concept, but like many others have mentioned, the controls were hard to understand at first and often there is too much going on in the screen space to know what is happening. Consider either reducing the enemy rate of fire or adding audio/sfx feedback when you shoot, pick up an item, or get hit. Overall, pretty decent for your first game here on itch!

Nice concept! It was a bit confusing at first and i feel like a more advanced wave system could be great, but i still liked it!
Interesting game with a nice concept. As others have pointed out, the gameplay is a bit chaotic. In my opinion, you can start the game with few enemies. Then introduce more items and stronger enemies. Also, try to add a web build in the future. That way, even more players will try out your game.
Yes you have to export as HTML. But I am not very familiar with Game Maker Studio. Therefore, you should check out their documentation. Also, carefully read the itch.io documents about uploading a Web build because this process is a little different. Make sure to test out the entire procedure before doing it in an actual Game Jam.

Great game, simple and fun. It would be better if their was a tut, but after a few mins, the player will learn by himself. Well done.
Nice game. Another bar for special would have been great that if it is full then you can use it and after using it becomes empty again and refills with time, I feel that activating shield should have been activated on player also along with AI, then maybe I would have survived longer lol

Great game! It was quite fun, though I think explaining what each collectible does in the cutscene or on the menu somewhere would help the game.
A hard game, it becomes chaotic as time goes on but you have your back covered with the upgrades you will gradually get. Nice work Saijim!
